Just thought i'd share some pics of a bag grow. i've always used bags for spawn as an alternative to doing a bunch of jars (still do jars too though), but recently used them for fruiting in. went out of town recently, so this was a perfect set-it-and-forget-it type project.

Mixed hpoo/coir/verm and a little worm castings in a big pot, then brought to field capacity with water that had a little hydrated lime in it. loaded into large bags and sterilized for about 3 hours. next day on 6/21, used 1 quart of wbs tly spawn to each bag in glovebox. sealed bag with impulse sealer, then mixed spawn throughly into substrate and placed in TiT. once colonized, took out of incubator, covered bottom with duct tape and set it on a counter near a window that gets indirect light with no fan nearby either. wasn't sure if the 0.2 micron filter on bag would be enough FAE and contemplated cutting a slit and stuffing with polyfil, but never did and they did just great anyway. when i got home they were perfect for picking! I like the simplicity of this and not messing with tubs, fanning, etc. will probably be doing it this way again soon. :)

i love invitro mycobags. they are one of the easiest methods to get larger than pf tek yields, without having to implement any advanced or bulk techniques.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to tenjin again. lol

I too like invitro bags. I don't impulse seal but just fold it over a few times and use binder clips.

I've never tried sterilizing the bulk substrate only past. Might have to try that.

will have to get some fungi pr0n of the other bags fruiting when they do. they were a little late in colonizing before i left, but they are done now and out of the incubator waiting on some pinnage! :D
this is a awesome strain, here's a pic of one of the quart wbs spawn that didn't make it's home into one of the bags :lol:

couple of questions... what strain did you use? multispore or clone?

sorry mm, must have missed this before. it is TLY strain and is MS. still tinkering with cloning, but have yet to fruit one, hopefully soon though. :)

Here's the 2nd bag's first flush. i let this one go a little longer than the first bag, which the caps opened up more. the first bag was dunked a few days ago and is now starting to pin again. the dry weight on the first bag was 43.7g and the 2nd bag's fresh fruits are now drying.

there's a clump of verm at the bottom, which is why it looks a little off in the pics.

I love a strain that clusters like that... nice work!

i have the .2 micron filter bags.can i use those also or after there colonized cut the seal and roll the bag down.or how about just do a gooseneck on the top.really interested in invitro just dont want to buy the 5 micron bags when i already have the .2 ones.thanks in advance for any help

your post made me realize i had said 0.5 micron filter patches, which in actuality they are 0.2 micron (maybe a mod can change that error for me in the op?). had to look at the hoosier site to make sure, which is where i got them and sure enough they are 0.2 micron filter large spawn bags. http://www.hoosiermu...spawn-bags.html it's amazing how little air exchange they got and still did well.

so, if your interested in invitro bags, these seem to be working great for me atm. they are kinda like the sandbag tek, just more invitro i guess. they are just sitting on my washer/dryer next to a north facing window at about 75F. i think if you cut open the bag and fruited it that way, it would work great too, i'm thinking of doing it this way soon, just to try it out. after cutting open the top, maybe putting them in a tub lined with perlite.

ya, they are perfectly reusable after dunks. but it's probably best to use clips or something like freaky said, if you're going to be opening and closing them alot, as i have been impulse sealing them everytime, but it works good too. they are starting on their second flush now, here's today's pics of the 2nd flush of the first bag after a dunk.

what is your ratio and amount of poo coir verm for these bags? also what strains have you had sucess with using this method?thanks for any help and for answering my previous question.peace
