122g => over a quarter pound wet

I noticed some black spots on the sub tonight and thought, “Oh, no, contams!” I was surprised how quickly it appeared and then realized it was just spore dumpage.

Phaedris, this is one of the greatest logs i've read on here... I'm following in your footsteps, and dumped about 1.5L of popcorn spawn into my tub 2 days ago. I took a sneak peak yesterday (I know, I know, but I couldn't help it!), and the myc has all come back onto the popcorn, but it doesn't seem to be really moving into the sub.

I live in Taiwan, and searched far and wide for coir, but couldn't find any. At a garden store, I found this brick of compressed "EZ-soil". After getting the writing on it translated it turned out to be part coir, part peat, part dirt, with some perilite mixed in. But it promised to be 100% organic and a pH of 6.8... It looks almost identical to the bricks of compressed coir that I see online, so i decided to use it. I pasteurized it for nearly 3 hours, and mixed in a little coffee grounds.

I'm a little worried, but hopefully the spawn takes over the sub!

Thanks, meta, I like the idea of working in the medium of mycelium :rasta:

keepitgreen, I'm glad you've enjoyed my grow log. Two days isn't much time for the myc to grow through the sub. All the teks I've read say to keep it covered for five days before you peek. Sounds like you knew that :)

Your EX-soil sounds like it should work fine and your research and preparation are good. Give it another five days without peaking as punishment, I'm sure you'll be fine! ;)

Nice pictures to go along with your nice grow

Thanks, Ben, this is where it gets weird...

I’d harvested all the shrooms and brought the fruiting tub into my bedroom to dry out the sub. The plan was to dry it out, grind it up and use ethanol to extract the goodies.

It is warm (80+ degrees) in my room, dry, I had the HEPA air purifier on 24/7, and the morning sun coming in is quite strong. Obviously I had the top off to dry the sub so I thought there was 0% moisture in the tub… however, look what I found today

http://mycotopia.net...=1&d=1282393034

The “brown” stuff is actually just water I poured in when I found these poor determined shrooms. The coloring is all weird in this pic. I didn’t try to get a good photo because this grow was supposed to be done!

This guy weighed 17.5g. You can see in the background how many friggin fruits are popping up. Unbelievable!

Did you use doo in this sub? What did you think of cap size? Have a taste report? Are you going to try cloneing any? Would you grow these again? Are there white rings on the edge of the caps?

Sorry for the malee of questions. I also loved your photos:heart:
Good vibes to you

Did you use doo in this sub?

No. One of the reasons I decided to grow Orissa India was because of the reports of "dinner plate -sized" caps. Mine were obviously much smaller and I've been told that if I want to get monster fruits I'll have to do doo.

What did you think of cap size?

These are beautiful shrooms and I'm happy with my harvest.

Have a taste report?

I love eating these raw. Even though I have what I consider a fairly sensitive stomach I have no issues with consuming p. cubensis raw - either fresh or dried. IAG

Are you going to try cloneing any?

No. I've got enough to last me for years and the harvest keeps coming.

Would you grow these again?

Absolutely! I've heard that OI are also contam-resistant so I recommend them for anyone.

Are there white rings on the edge of the caps?

Yes

Sorry for the malee of questions.

No problemo.

I also loved your photos:heart:

Thanks, same to you. :)

Here's my total yield so far. It's fairly accurate despite a little estimating but if anything I have underestimated

66/12.7
67/34.4
68/63
74/45.5
75/25.6

Thanks for the reassurance Phaedris... I'm sitting on my hands now, forcing myself not to touch the lid of my tub. It's tough!

I have a question about your "grind it up and use ethanol to extract the goodies" idea... What's this all about? What goodies are you speaking of and what's the process?

LOL I can definitely relate! You can use the time to make 100% sure you've got everything assembled and ready to go for fruiting. And it wouldn't be a bad idea to completely clean your house/apartment with a disinfectant cleaner ;) Or... you can order spores for your next grow...

I'm talking about the Crystals of the Gods extraction information that was originally collected and posted by PF. A fair amount of the info is actually from Mycotopia. I posted the link and all the information here in P4ulada's Extraction, "Erowid Tek" thread:

I was under the impression that Orissa India had larger caps..
