Ill Start with a couple Covers I like.

Hurt - Sung By Johnny Cash

Smooth Criminal - by Michael Jackson sung by Alien Ant Farm
http://www.youtube.c...h?v=CDl9ZMfj6aE

:headbang:

Don't Fear the Reaper - originally Blue Oyster Cult..acoustic version by Gus

Running Up that Hill - originally Kate Bush..covered by Placebo

Hallelujah - Leonard Cohen..it's been covered by many. My two favorite versions are from Jeff Buckley and in 2006 the Norwegian quartet of Espen Lind, Kurt Nilsen, Alejandro Fuentes and Askil Holm.

Surprised that no one mentioned Layla... who's your favorite done by?

I prefer Derek and The Dominoes.

John Frusciante covering Nirvana's 'Lounge Act'.

Probably no studio recordings of it available, but live it was the best cover I have heard....

Hi,
possibly not as deep as most songs here but I love it.
The original is from Motörhead and was one of the first songs that blew me away when I realized the energy of music for the first time in my life.
I think I was 12y maybe 14y.
The cover is really dirty and rocks as hell:headbang:

HELLS YEAH MAN!!! :headbang:

I fucking love old school Sepultura!!

I wouldn't say this is better than the original. Hard to top Sabbath.

But Pantera's cover of Black Sabbaths Planet Caravan is awesome!!

Ok 1 more.

Not really a Type O Negative fan, but this is just a sick fucking cover of Sabbath's Black Sabbath.

in addition to all those already listed,

i like reel big fish's covers of both a-ha's 'take on me' and phil collins' 'another day in paradise'. not better per se, just diffferent.

love save ferris's version of 'come on eileen', originally by dexy's midnight runners

joe cocker's 'come together' from across the universe (love pretty much that whole soundtrack actually)

i dig the disturbed cover of 'land of confusion' by genesis too

also kind of intriguing was 'the rocky horror punk rock show'... the whole album is done by various punk bands, not all of them are that good but its still kinda goofy, if your a fan of rocky horror.
