I have grown cakes with little problems untill now. I decided to go bigg with my cakes. typical pf brf cakes. But went bigger to pp5 4 cup container.
Nocked them up and full colinated in a little over three weeks with no contam.
birthed and bleach dunked of 16 hrs. doubled cased and in GC. A few days later i noticed the mycil seemed to go back to vegitation stage. Fluffy mycil growing on cake. Other cakes i grew did not get this fluffy.
The temp was dropped 10 degrees from incubation temp.
Grow chamber is between 72F and 80F degrees. Fanned three to four times a day. Casing verm is damp and i spray. No pins as of yet . but i have readthat this may be over lay ? I have herd of casings getting overlay from too much rh and / or too little. I need so insite and advice from the experts !
Check out the pic's and any ideas of whatis going on ? Too humid ? too warm ? I'm at a loss. All my other cakes pinned within five days in the GC.
This is a trial to see if bigger cakes would equal to bigger flushes. Now im scratching my head as to where i went wrong ? any ideas ?

after a bleach dunk the cakes will take some time to recover..........your cakes look healthy..........id just keep em in the terrarium and give em light.......

fluffy mycellia does not = vegetative state
it's often just a sign of high humidity
perfectly normal for happy healthy mycellia
i would imagine
it's not finished colonizing inside its' center yet
pinning will be delayed

Hay python, Thanks for the tip ! They get at least eight hours of light and while colinizing they get a few minutes every couple of days. This is the first time i bleach dunked. I usually use peroxide. But since the bigger cake i thought i would be extra cautious!
It's been over a week since birth and dunk. Just got worried since all my other cakes started to pin within five days ! Thanks again !

one of the cakes started to fruit.
these cakes 32 ounce were nocked up with multi spore.
Full 10cc nock up each. As usual around the outside and also in a circle in the middle. bleach dunked as said before. Now 12 days in the GC one of the cakes has started pinning:headbang: The other has not and has less fluffy mycil.
here are the close ups

Well here is proof of how this site can help someone new to this hobby.
MfoaF started his first 1/2 pint pf tec just six months ago.
With the help of the vast knowledge of the vaults, grow logs, personal interaction.
This site has given him the confidence to explore this ever mind expanding world of mycology.
Back to the proof. My FOAF's current project, brf Quart is proving to be very fruitfull. The B+ Is exploding ! As he wished ! Good karma i guess ? The pe cake is just starting to pin> Check the myco porn ! he hopes you like it as much as he does ! What he did forget to mention in the first post was, he added two tea spoons of pickling lime to the mix. His thoughts. big cake longer clolinization time more time for contams. Anyhoo! it seems to work out just fine.
Blind all this time, i'm just learning to see....
PEACE OUT !~:headbang:

Yea milton, Those little 1/2 pints and pints are just two much work so i thought bigger would be better. Seems to work out well for me. Total yeild will tell !
They take up as much space as for half pt cakes in the GC. Just easyer to dunk and case a big cake the a bunch of little cakes !

been busy, just a late update. The B+ had a lot of aborts, but some nice fruit ! dunked and back in the GC. The PE had very little pinning and stalled half way through fruiting. Picked the little fruit that it did put out. The next day without dunk it began to pin again. so no pic's of the PE only the B+ Not sure why PE is not doing so well. RH has been stedy and temp between 75 and 80 F. We shall see what happens...
I'm thinking the first bleach dunk after birth may have been too strong ? First time ever bleach dunked. usually just use proxy. never had problems with PE fruiting.
Sorry about the fuzzy PE pic's.

Thanks ya'll. B+ is pinning again and also the PE. Yet again i'm not impressed with the pin set on the PE. They have lot's of food and moisture. My guess is that i'll get meny small flushes.
FOAF just nocked up another 3 cup container with P.R. Took a few days longer to see growth then usual. I havent really looked in the vaults to see how
puerto rican do on brf cakes. I guess that will be another thred !
Again , thanks for all the KIND input !
