that's because it's not reliable, it's subjective,
proly placebo effect for the most part.
that guy's thread has been gone over with a fine tooth comb
and it just doesn't check out. hence the lack of fanfare.

To asses the claim, all we really have are subjective reports. My own results were more than placebo, which of course can be endlessly debated but I believe is true.

As I remember it, most of the fine tooth combing was done intellectually. Not many people actually tried it. There is a lot of variation of perceived effects with regular mushrooms (no juice or any other modification) so I'd expect a similar amount of variation with the lemon technique. For me, it works great. Hell, some people can smoke a huge pile of Salvia and not feel anything, but I wouldn't argue that those who do are experiencing a placebo effect.

To anyone who checks out that thread, I'd like to add that I'm only talking about the lemon juice; I have not tried the currant juice idea.

I like to think I'm not a sucker for "power of suggestion"
I too noticed the difference in the pure lemon juice soak.
I can't explain why, but I read in that other thread that the low ph of lemon juice changes the psilocybin to psilocin.
I can't say if that is true or not, but it made me try it and I'm glad I did.

Not to throw stones, but the placebo effect can do some truly amazing things. I got off pretty decently on squares of water color paper that somebody was "tricking" me with, back in the day. Repeated double blind testing is the only way to know for certain.

Dry ice...DUDE! That's a killer suggestion. Never thought of that...

as for a storage solution, what about grinding up the mushys and putting them in lemon juice or black currant or something and freezing? seems like this would be stable and last quite a while?

I just recently blended 3 decent sized mushrooms up w/ orange juice and lime juice. This resulted in a very tangy drink so some sugar was added to help compensate for the tang.

I usually take a lot of mushrooms, around 10g provides the desired effect, however with these 3 fresh mushrooms, maybe 30-40g total wet weight, i have never fried so hard in my life. I dont know about the rest of you, but im going to always add acid to aid digestion of the mushrooms from now on.

How 'bout lemon juice? I usualy crumble dried cubes to a powder and soak in lemon/lime juice for 30-60min. anyway. It hits so quick and you peak real quick, with that long, removed from, but still deeply rooted sense of reality lasting longer. You know that "reached an epiphany" state and want to discuss it?Don't remember where I read to soak in citrus juice, but you can do it and almost go to work the next day,for how long the duration is.And it hits hard!Nothing to back this with.Just my opinion.

it's cool, shows yer thinking,
personally i recommend that any interested in acidic fruit juices try
grapefruit juice
which has scientifically been shown to
potentiate at least some kinds of drugs.
don't think it has been proven on psilocybes
but if you are going to use lemons
i figure you might as well take a shot
at grapefruit juice which might indeed
actually work.

black currant is a mild maoi...so it should act as a multiplier for tryptamines.

I dont think it should be all that difficult to determine whether or not that juice contains an maoi. Everytime I have an maoi, I can feel it. I normally wait about 1/2 an hour after I take the maoi before I eat the little guys. The main give away is the sharpening of the senses.

I really like syrian rue, I have ate more with the rue than without it and for the most part didnt have any problems except when I took a high dose with it. Its easy to get, dirt cheap and easy to extract into a liquid to chug. I also like the added effects of it compared to just fungi, seems to act like a telepathic guide through the cosmos.

The way I have stored mine is: mushies in a thermos, thermos in a clean garbage bag, bag with thermos in a 5 gallon bucket, chunks of dry ice placed around the base of the thermos inside the bag, then hot water poured into the bucket outside of the bag, loosely gather the top of the bag for a couple of minutes. As the dry ice sublimates, it fills the garbage bag and displaces the room air in the thermos and bag. after a few minutes, slowley reach into the bag and screw on the top of the thermos...mushrooms protected from light, air and large tempature swings. A desicant patch in the thermos helps with any retained moisture. My first trials involved putting the dry ice in water to produce the familiar fog. While the fog was co2, it also seemed to be very moist and I didn't like the idea of putting all that h20 in with my carefully dried shrooms. Adding a chunk of dry ice directly into the storage container was my next thought, but I worried about condinsation from from the insanely cold temps. The method I described above seems to work very well and is also very easy...if you have access to dry ice that is.

I can't find any specific scientific evidence that Blackcurrant is an MAOI, except a patent filed online http://www.freepaten...om/5262162.html

I was going off the Gummihuasca experiments, I think, that blackcurrant was a mild maoi. Until I actually see evidence, I won't be recommending it for use anymore.

To me, ground harmala seeds taste horrible. Even put into capsules, I still burp and get that same flavour in my mouth. Yuck! It's worth it to do an a/b extract and get somewhat pure harmine.

a patent is not evidence, one can file a patent on almost anything, it doesn't even have to actually work.

Rue=fantastic short acting MAOI. Just be careful and pay attention to the dietary restrictions unless you are a fan of "spike in the forehead" style headaches.

Cheaper source of CO2 (unless you are getting your dry ice free): cans. You can get cans of CO2 real cheap from any good liquor/wine store. The cans even come with a nice long straw, so you can easily displace the oxygen in a wine bottle (oxygen causes wine to spoil). Very easy to work with...

I only ate azures once, they were dried, and 2g only gave me a mild buzz... Not any stronger than 2g of cubes, I think you gotta eat azures fresh... 2g of pan/cope cyans had me spuntarded like more than a quarter of cubes...

??? I ate .8 grams dried ones and it blew my mind of !
