Going to Thailand, Koh Samui, I wanted to know how is situation with magic mushrooms there, anybody was there lately. I've read, that in the deep of the island, where cows are eating grass, it's possible to find Pans on cow poo.
So, any info about it is welcomed.

You need to read what Mushroom John, a.k.a MJShroomer, has posted for us.

He's the one who found the Thai strains and brought them to us. Hopefully he'll see this post.
Man of Knowledge click this and you should be able to post a message to him.

I'm moving to the International Forum also since you'll be more likely to receive a response regarding mushrooms in Thailand.

Not even mention one of the coolest Psilocybes out there,
what's also originated from the exact same region - Psilocybe samuiensis.
I'd definitely hunt those down as well as the P. cubensis.:rasta:

May not be quite as easy as you think. The locals are nosy, very nosy and they see ABSOLUTELY everything. Especially when it comes to farangs (white people). I have a ton of fields in my area that I know are most likely thriving with shrooms, lots of water buffalo and cows, however I wouldn't take the risk of trespassing here in Thailand. You will also find that nearly all empty lots, fields have barb wire fence protecting them. Their barbwire is a bit differently here, the barbs are longer, the wire is tighter and the spacing is much more narrow.

Not saying it can't be done, obviously it can, it probably won't be all that easy. Also keep in mind it is very illegal here.

Also, if you go to haad rin check out the bar at the end of the beach. Last I was there the mushroom shakes were legit.

If you are coming here for holiday my advice would be to enjoy paradise. If you are anything like me the moment you start thinking about hunting that is all you will think about, you will be consumed by it and enjoying one of the most beautiful places on planet earth will be compromised.

The chances of you finding a new Thai species, better Thai genetics than those available back home discovered and distributed by pioneers who have come before you is very unlikely. And it isn't worth being blacklisted or having every penny in your bank account extorted from you.

Enjoy Thailand, have a mushroom shake at Haad Rin, and focus on paradise! Experiencing Thailand is a "trip" in itself.

I find it interesting that you would find barb wire as tht is a product used by white foreigners, mostly German or Australian who live in Thailand or other areas of South andd Southeast Asia. 90% of all fields from India to Vietnam are open fields. Cattle tenders are nice and so are their kids, they will sellto tourist wandering around in open fields. And P. samuiensis also grows in Angkor Wat, Cambodia. As does cubes, Copes and P. antioquensis.. P. samuiensis also contains the chemical compound, Psilosamuiensin A.

Rainy or monsoon season as it is really known begans approximately late May to October, that is usually the majority of shroom seasons.
'
And it is not cool to tell members that the last time you were there tahat mushroom milkshakes were legal. They are not and Hed kee kwai (Mushroom which appear after Buffalo Shits", is what that means. While there are shrooms at many Asian Full Moon Festivals such as the one on Koh Phanghan, over the past 24-years, I have legally collecected psilocybian specimens since 1986 for Chulalongkorn University and currently have a 140-page with over 150 color photos of new species, chemical analysis, taxonomic descriiptions, my own SEM photographs as well as my collegues from Chula U and DNA sequencing, Cool beautiful photos of frescoes and mushroom sculptures on temple walls from Goa India in Tamil Nadu village (known as Mushrom city, in the Western Ghat Mountains of India on its Western Border to the Buffalo arenas and Island resorts in the Philipines. And in Thailand and Cambodia (no illegal shrooms here yet), if you are not causing problems, no one will bother you, And in all the time I have been in thailand, two months out of each year since the mid 1980s, I have seen little of barb wire. Thais do not like it. And one cool thing about Thailand is that if you are not Thai, you cannot own land.

Go to http://www.mushroomjohn.org/articles.htm and read my pictorials from journals such as the Journal of Ethnopharmacology of which I have three articles published their, Law and Art in Thailand also in the articles section of my site with about 24 photos of Thai shroom art and laws regarding shrooms. And also got to http://www.mushroomjohn.org/species.htm and scroll down to Copelandia cyanescens and see the ten to twenty minute pounds or more where I show dozens of collections of shrooms from Thailand. Visit my exotic forays section and look up the Reeshi shrooms grrown at the private gardens of the King, one of the many places I work at each summer. Three years ago I grew 50 kilos of local tobacco with my Muslim Family friends who own a large plantation, and shrooms generall are common, mostly Copes at all buffalo arenas from Late May till October, with cubes in the taller grasses where grass grows in the powdered manured fertilizer plots of land in their coconut grove. I also find shrooms growing out of coconuts and reeshis growing on coconut trees cut down and used for poles for the buffalo arenas. i once oposted a nuffalo fight here. Its around.

I have written 8 papers on Thai magic and toxic shrooms and have presented many lectures and conferences and have taught classes at the U. Here is a picture of me with a bag of cubes and copes in a class-room at the Dept of Microbiology

http://mycotopia.net...=1&d=1297189566

Here from a lecture I gave and was given an award byy the dance troup that performed for the three hundred participants of the Conference at the Hilton Hua Hin. I stayed in one of my colleagues private Condos of which he owns about 40 in Thailand plus several hotels. The whole 4th floor of this particular Condo is for his family and relatives, the other condos onthe other four floors he rents. Nice pool, have to wear real swim suit as shorts are not allowed. Even the images of my foray participants who came to the King's gardens had to wear long pants and shirts and the women all had to go buy skirts at Siam Center, and then my colleague would pick them up and we would go see how the King's gardener grows Reeshi and Oyster shroomss and also manufactures tintures and medicines from the medicinal shrooms. All money made from all the dairy products, shroom, spirolina, and other soy-like products are presented as gifts from the Royal Family to the poor members of the primary Hill Tribe Groups living in the mountains of the North from Burma on the Thai Border to Laos and Cambodian border, where there are still three land mines. I found one myself/

Here from the stage of the Hua Hin Hilton Shroom and Fungi and bidiversity symposium. Also had Dr. Subrahmanian, the leading Soma and Sanskrit expert in India who talked about Amanitas after I gave an hour slide presentation and Identification lecture.

http://mycotopia.net...=1&d=1297189566

There are over 70,000,000 water buffalo in Thailand of which one out of every ten are pink. Here is part of Ban Hua thannon field which is about 10 by 6 miles wide and lengthwise.

http://mycotopia.net...=1&d=1297189566

If you are walking in a field, either cattle tenders, rice growers or kids will approach you and usually wil ask if you are looking for shrooms. I know many cattle tenders who sell kilos daily during monsoon season. Of course I have a permit to pick, and those with me are allowed to pick and make prints but all shrooms have to be deposited in the herbarium before they come home. The upper top left center of this field of Ban Hua Thanon, photographed about 6 miles south of Ban Phang Kaa is just one of many throughout the land. Changmai of the north use to stretch form Burma to Vietnam and was called Lanna Thai, that meant "Land of one billion Rice Fields."

There ae 15,000 photos on my site, many sections on Thai shrooms and all of Southeast Asia.

By the way, Koh Samui has about 14 buffalo arenas that operate during the whole of the monsoon season and copes and cubes abound and in the rice fields before planting after the earth has been churned, the shrooms grow in the clusters between plowed chunchs of grassy shit areas. And P. samuiensis grows with its roots attached to wild grasses like liberty caps, P. fimetaria and P. Mexicana and several other similar liberty cap like shrooms

I currently live up north and barb wire is everywhere, keep in mind I am talking about areas that are close to me, I can't speak for the whole of Thailand.

And it is not cool to tell members that the last time you were there tahat mushroom milkshakes were legal.

I never said shakes were legal, I said they were legit, meaning they weren't selling ground up mosquito coil shakes and calling them mushroom shakes.
