Me likey, kinda makes me think of dream theater with a little bit of tool influence. I might have to downl.. er purchase some of their albums legally. :eusa_whis
and some dream theater and shpongle. Those are a couple of things I haven't replaced since I lost a lot of my tunes a while back.
edit: another group/band I used to like to put in the background while I trippin' are the kidney thieves, and uhhh I'll have more later I'm sure. I've been on a bit of a search myself for good tunes. Still haven't found anything that compares with TOOL..

Had the Sphongle. Just finished reobtaining it, so it won't be long heh..
Another thought. This is pretty far from the original type of music the OP mentioned, but I've had some pretty interesting moments with Gojira and bridgsii tea.

Pomme Fritz is a 1994 EP by The Orb. It was The Orb's first studio production released on Island Records. Pomme Fritz is a chaotic EP which Rolling Stone described as an "aural feast" despite its "lack of cohesion" and direction.[1] Though Pomme Fritz reached as high as #6 on the UK charts, UK critics panned it as "doodling" and noted its absence of focus.[2] Even Island Records "hated it" and "didn't understand it at all", according to Paterson.[3] Kris Weston's role was much diminished on Pomme Fritz and is credited only as an engineer.[4] Though Pomme Fritz was released as a piece of original work, it consists largely of manipulated samples. Not exactly what you were asking for, but I feel it is worth a listen to. Each song is "incredible"
I listin to the Orb aswell the song Slug dub is pretty trippy with cool sound effects
never can seem to find that song though

A lot of the prog music seems to come out of Sweden these days.
Some of the bands, or projects in some cases, include:
> The Flower Kings
> Cynic
> Gordian Knot
> Spock's Beard
> Djam Karet (which translated means "Elastic Time")
> Unifaun
And the one I just came across that I REALLY like is Agents of Mercy, due to the original, Gabriel led lean toward Genesis.
I hope these are new to some like-minded proggers. If you have suggestions, please "chime in!"
