shimmy are yo gonna be fruiting those as a cake or casing??

Also, should we be doing these in half pints? or can we do some quarts?
would you think that whole rice would be sterilized by steaming, rather than pcing after the moisture content is right?

the jars were given light for a few days and 3 of them were sent to the fruiting chamber the others will be put in a casing and if you can get the moisture content right and sterilize with steam correctly and get the larger jars to colonize quickly enough i dont see why not

http://mycotopia.net...=1145213307well this has become the ghetto deluxe thread here are a few of the cakes in a 5 gallon tank no verm or perlite and a fan that came from a public restroom 1 pin so far neglect to the max!

i would case those asap

if not youll want 100% humidity so the fan goin constantly is not needed
public restroom, ey? -- hope ya sterilized it well :)

can't wait to see yer results,

i was thinkin about this readin dukex's whole rice tek
and thought a built-in verm barrier would be awesome
too bad the moisture content thing is a bitch already or i'd try it
i think casing, in the jar, or DEC, with verm after colo is just as good tho

why no DEC?
are ya out of vermiculite?
if ya need a ration of verm lmk i can help

anxious to see yer results! keep us posted :)

btw limed peat would make just as good a DEC as verm in a pinch
i only mention it because its the time of year when yer mixin up pottin soil and may have some on hand

also, when i mention the fan bein sterilized its not specifically aimed toward those cakes contamming
rather bringin more unnecessary contamination into yer grow OP in general,
just best to avoid nasties whenever ya can ya know :)

If you are going to keep that fan in the terrarium, aim it at the ceiling. It will dry the heck out of your cakes, blowing directly on them.

FOAF didn't have good results with the fan/cake combination. He uses the little fans for casings only.

By the way, I am getting shrooms off the "5TH" flush from this verm casing. It just doesn't want to die. They are a good size too.

paper towels aren't a casing.
not enough water capacity
and no micro-structure/climate either.
piss poor substitute, imo.
paper towels are for humidity, like perlite,
not casings.
use verm.
