with the cake , then slowly spreads thru the fibers...This becomes a minor problem cause u can no longer water those areas unless u add more paper.

paper towels are really not a casing but something to provide a bit of moisture.

This is why poeple don't use it very often.
We choose to grow on healthy grains and such.
They are much more mold resistant(grian ie,birdseed,rye-n-corn).I know cause i eat rice everyday being that i'm who i am but anyways.I've seen rice go bad within a few weeks.

As far as contams go, I have been doing this for a couple years now and have not had one contam! Nada! When you consider the amount of reports on grain contamination, the odds seem to lean towards rice..
Also, you can use just an ordinary pot with great success. No need for a presuure cooker. The rice is cooked before it is put into the jars so this would help warding off those nasties.
The one downfall of this method is the lack of quantities and slightly lower potency that you would get from using poo or straw, etc. But for someone that would like some fruits with a minimal amount of trouble, this is the one. :)

rice dec verm cakes lol more to come though here is the flush results almost 60 grams mostly just from one cake
what you got from
those 'papertowel cased' cakes eh ?
Posted 06 May 2006 - 07:42 AM
you stated that your 4 papertowel cased cakes yielded
that was wet weight, so dry = 10% of that number,
first flush from 4 cakes at around 80 + something grams
e.g. 8 dry between 4 cakes =
an average of 2 dry grams per cake per flush.
the DEC cake just gave ~60 wet, equivalent to 6 dry
almost 60 grams mostly just from one cake
for just one cake.
a cake that you even neglected and let dry out.
and yet still
these were grown in no light lol i forgot, and the cakes were bone dry when i harvested this morning
the 'per cake/flush' average
is ~3x as much as your previous results.
