When Aspergillus nidulans is exposed to red light, it stops. Many of these contaminants like this and TRICH, are easily killed by just light. I have posted before about Trich problems......just place the project out in sunlight. Certain bands of the UV light KILL Trick. That is why you never see it in sunny areas. This is one of the reasons why foaf has a room with a red bulb in it. A. like stated above it stops several different types of contams in their tracks and B because it doesnt initiate pinning, making it easier for foaf to inspect casings/ cakes that he doesnt want exposed to light just yet. Definitely light has an effect on the trich because it's happened before that we would have put lemons in a bowl and left it there in the kitchen for like a week or two and the lemon on the bottom of the bowl, where it is completely dark and air movement is less, those lemons would be completely covered in the green mold!

Direct light will work the best. Just watch the temps. You don't want that to
get too high. Not sure about the LED Lights.......slp/fmrc
