So I've taken a few low gram doses of dried amanita muscaria, var guessowii, caps now and any residual fear I might have had from listening to other folks is gone. Of course I am taking low doses and slowly increasing it as I go with weeks or even a month in between doses. At night in one of my favorite mediation settings. All of my experiences to date have been good. I posted the following over on Warrior's post about amanita baths accidentally so I'm starting my own thread here. I think both threads are important enough to separate them. In any case I'll use this thread to try and record my experiences as I increase the dose and of course as I find new fruits coming up. I hope to find springtime fruits this year and I know some huge stands of pine trees to check out..........:teeth:

From my hijacking of Warrior Souls thread: (again sorry about that)

Well, last night was good, I munched 4 grams of dried amanita muscaria and had an extended/enhanced trip down the mobius strip, not overly intense but enough to feel myself, the grip my personality has, slip a bit away. At least the daily actor that I play slipped and my magical persona got center stage. It's funny, this thing I call me. I felt a thousand years old with fuzzy edges and extended tracers from the candlelight's. I used a carved table top and candles, then altered breath cycle, to help travel down what became an endless loop. This time I had some body-drunk kind of effects too and a couple of strange twitches and itches but nothing that distracted my meditation more than simply noticing their presence. Really I had a very comforted sense of being but I intended to have that before starting.

Actually after weighing out 4g's from a nice big dried cap I set the dose in the middle of a trifos symbol and meditated on it for awhile. I got a strong sense of welcoming and even a slightly mischievous feeling too. Lots of blues and purple visual effects but again not real intense or overwhelming just extended tracer type stuff, it was like a photographic negative trying to creep in from the edges but not overcoming the positive, if that makes any sense at all. In any case, no stomach upset, no purging, nothing like that at all.

At about 3:30 AM I started to fall into and out of sleep while sitting so decided to wrap up the candle gazing and check out the back of my eyelids...... :teeth: So that was like 4 or so hours after dosing. Sleep came very easily actually. I did note one very curious visual image that has persisted into the afterglow..........a picture of a destroyed city completely quiet with vegetation growing on it. Cool stuff, at least to me.

Here is a shot (or two) of one of my favorite "gateways" that I use to "walk across" the boundary. An anchor if you will, and after waking up this morning I still have some body groggy and after glow..... :meditate:

Fascinating thread you started, Arathu.
Amanitas are legal for purchase where I currently inhabit so they are something I keep in the back of my mind as something for future study. It was hard for me to find info on working with the amanitas in an open-minded shamanic setting so it is very lucky that I find your account.

I recognize the implement you are using there. A triskelion on a shield/table surrounded by the norse runes.
I am rather fond of the triskelion (it's got other names too - but this one applies to the image across all cultures) as it seems to be the natural development after the tao symbol.
Here is another image you may recognize ... norse origin also - some good food for thought if you haven't seen it before.
http://www.ancient-s...omean-rings.jpg

I have used a variety of focal items, both 'physically tangible' and mental constructs. When working with cubensis(which is not amanita but I suspect the effect would be similar) indoors I find it useful to have some living things from the forest. A fresh pine needle that I bite on and taste, a cat who's fur I touch, some natural rustling sounds I make with a coat or something. These cues seem to revolve mechanisms which are beyond my control otherwise. I also imagine being in the forest and connecting through the ground barefoot. Then when in that state the 'teacher' that the mushroom helps amplify in me seems to come that much easier and roots me into it all well. Just thought I'd share a little method.

Will be waiting for updates, wish you fun in your travels ;)

I always like reading other people's experiences with amanitas. I experimented with them a few years ago & had similar effects. I also started small & worked my way up, but I don't remember how many g's I took the time I had the strongest effects. It seems that a lot of people report a "loop" like effect, I felt like i was stuck in a slowly evolving cycle that repeated itsself for what seemed like forever.

I've gotta say, though, the only thing I think amanita's a cubes have in common is that they're both mushrooms. The experiences are completely different, and to be honest the most vivid amanita experience I had was a little bit scary because it really felt like I was stuck in a loop for eternity. That said it was a good experience, and I would do it again. It's something that should be treated with caution & respect.

On a side note I definitely see some recreational/maybe even medicinal value in small doses. The effects it produces are a lot like a light headed high/buzzed feeling that seemed to put me in a pretty positive mood the few times I tried before I went over to the psychadelic/disassociative side of the experience.

2-3 dried ground tablespoons in a tea of Amanita Muscaria (Crimson)
+
1-2 Grams Dried Azures later and you are in for the most pleasant experience available.

Never heard anyone else EVER claim of doing this but I was surprised at the ease and wonder FOAF beheld.
The Amanita brought a warmth and clarity to the otherwise coldness of the psilocybe
And the Psilocybe brought a visual spectrum and a depth that the Amanita lacked.
The completeness was astounding...

I have to add... These statements have not been Verified by the FDA....:eusa_thin an it has not
been studied anywhere to my knowledge if the main compounds in either variety are safely
metabolized together with no adverse side effects. If you venture on this one you are on your
Own... Foafs still alive, but still addicted to mushrooms so take it for what its worth : )

I hoped someone would say that...... :teeth:

Luck plays a big part in everything...some people even say that magic at work looks like luck.
I recognize the implement you are using there. A triskelion on a shield/table surrounded by the norse runes.Indeed!
I am rather fond of the triskelion (it's got other names too - but this one applies to the image across all cultures) as it seems to be the natural development after the tao symbol. It is truly ancient and known everywhere on the earth, and I won't be surprised when a spaceship shows up with it scribed into it's shell. :teeth:
Here is another image you may recognize ... norse origin also - some good food for thought if you haven't seen it before. Here lies the entanglement of the Norn's and the sacred 3 in 9 knot of the slain, amongst other things, 3 and 9 show up everywhere too.

Cool
Part of my ritual work is to strongly anchor my connection to the earth with an intense visualization of my legs and feet transforming into tree roots, disappearing to Hel. With practice and discipline mushrooms are great tools. These amanitas are seeming like a good friend to know and respect of course, just as one would treat any other friend.

Will be waiting for updates, wish you fun in your travels ;)

Cool again....I will do that as the relationship develops. Please feel free to do the same if you are so inclined, that's what we're here for methinks.

This aspect of it I think might make it very powerful for magical working , intense clarity and sustained too, but I got really tired and fell asleep without knowing it and then wondered which dream for a couple toggles, that's when I had enough sense to say fire need not be involved in the house any longer.......... :teeth:

I'm definitely a pagan something or other.....very earth based spiritually drawn. I feel the woods and the earth, the world around me. I'm looking at my Slavic heritage and the pre-christian spirituality of my ancestors. The amanita just naturally fits the bill, at least in part. Slavic Heathen is as close as I can come to a label for it. :teeth:

So I asked the caps last night how much to take this time and they said emphatically, "NO........not tonight". The sensation was undeniable as was the additional payload to the "message". "Prepare for the equinox" The screech owls are singing their haunting calls again, the wood ducks have returned, the robins are sneaking their way back in too, and it's snowing it's balls off..............Understood! :teeth: Let's bring the spring!

I am finding this an excellent thread Arathu. Very enlightening. The mobius strip/ circle loop time effect seems to be reported often, and is one of the reasons I have not approched Amanitas . Your experiences do not seem to denote difficulty or panic associated with this effect, so I hope you will elaborate on how that "time looping" is percieved and delt with during the experience. I look forward to the personal evolving levels you are sharing in this thread, and thank you for doing so.

I like that you are asking the mushroom meditating with it .... I do this alot with scacred medicines I find and collect
I still have 2 caps I wish to eat I have tried a few times this year and they were nice I kept the dose small things I remember well nice sound sleep feeling great the next day and remembering my dreams better than I normally would
I still am meditating on these 2 I heard they are great for winter time combating the cold which I desperately need but it isnt time to take them yet :)
I could have easily had 4 times the amount I collected but when I sat down and talked with the group they showed me which ones to take inwich was only 2 out of 6 a small amount every group was a different answer sometimes the old ones had to stay sometimes a mix old and new sometimes it was none at all that time I realized later that this group was growing in soil with train track oil not very medicinal ..... listen they will teach :)

I didn't have to ask last night, I was "informed" and the message was a vision of a cap with an offering of bread, apple, meat, and ale burned in the fire........so I weighed out 5 grams (one more g than the last session) from a big cap, asked for the vision I needed, and munched it. As the effects came on I gathered the stuff to offer, and built a large fire in my stone circle which is about 20 yards west from where these mushrooms grew. I put the offering on a stone "altar" in the north and then used a slow rhythmic motion around the fire to get "dizzy" (I'm sure the muscaria was helping, drooling was evident but not distracting or excessive although I could see someone getting hung up on that which would be an important lesson for the individual IMHO, yeah I remember and my feet itched too, weird) :teeth:

Last night was a very "Earthy" working and even the sky said "not up here, it's down below". There was owl (eastern screech for sure, they live right here all the time) in the hemlock trees right next to me and it's calls have it's own rhythmic beats to them. The one that makes the call itself and another that is the quiet time in between them. I found that I instinctively synched my breathing pattern to this rhythm. My exhalations correlated with it's call while my pause, inhalation, pause, correlated with the "quiet time" in between calls. Not sure how long that lasted. Ahhh, time is basically meaningless. This overall mix had the effect of loosing the "normal" daily boundaries of my physical body quite effectively but without clouding my thinking and cognizance, like alcohol would. I can very clearly remember the fine details of not being able to do anything about it, which was the ego having to give in, having to say "well, I'm not driving this body right now". Body drunk is a semi-accurate report in my limited experience but it is not really that either, it's very difficult to describe. My legs and below all transformed into tree wood and disappeared into the cold wet ground, where I found huge power, again very difficult to put into words because they can't do it justice. I tapped mother earth......and we liked it! :teeth: I could sense all the tree's around me and the plant's drawing up lifeblood.......water.......which WE as a race are poisoning. They said so, the earth said so and "they" said WE are right there with them, drawing on our own poisons. That sat me down on the ground and I cried! Tears falling on Moist Mother Earth....she came and wrapped my pathetic self up in blanket of warmed spring air....must of been something I needed......or I'm nut's....probably both! So if the drooling wasn't bad enough crying doesn't help with that at all.

Mother.....LOVE.......it's not about me alone......it's about US ALL.

So I'm using this as a sacrament in conjunction with what I see as my own religious/spiritual practice. There is no book for this, there is no way to know beforehand if it is right or wrong, but I think using the major seasonal transitions, the equinoxes and the solstices as the pattering for working is definitely spot on for me. There are no god names although we can agree on some and use them if we like, there are no goddess names either but we can do the same. These are labels that humans have created with languages in an attempt to understand. We are labelers and creators of signs that can only be traced to the point of self reference. No one is right, no one knows for sure, it isn't about thinking, it's about doing, and I'm hopefully learning my own way by doing it.

I'm not real sure what time it was but the final act was burning the offerings on the big pile of coals. Funny I was really hungry and thirsty too and everything that could satisfy the grumbly tumbly and the thirst I put into the fire and burned (a very good example of getting into the sacrifice through personal sacrifice. I think this is the true meaning of it and I was taught how to do it. The powers that be don't want something that doesn't mean anything to me, they want me to FEEL the actual loss, and then I realized that there was no ownership in the first place, and that is the real delusion from which I suffer.) This is also when the skunks showed up......really close but they did not cross the stone circle line, imagine that, and I'm talking feet away close as in you can definitely touch them close, tripping balls on amanita muscaria, in the middle of a spring ritual working and it too was a very humbling experience.........they didn't spray me but they definitely could have! :headbang: I am grateful!

I don't know if any of that blather makes any sense.......it's just what happened last night. :teeth: Something said, "We're not red, we're yellow and this is right for you" I have to go explore all of the pine tree groves I that I know of.

I'm sure there will be more lessons realized as distillations, extractions, and crystallization's happen, literally and metaphorically speaking.

And so that was my heathen Easter celebration, and now it's time to plant the garden!

Just have to tell you that I'm loving your thread, I'm so glad that others out there are spreading the loving message that the responsible use of AM has to offer us.

Reading this has made me really miss having so much around to to work with. Two years ago was a boom fungus year and i ended up with several dried ounces to have fun with, and introduce others to the power. This year was very dry and all I managed to find was enough to keep around as naturopathic antibiotic, for infections like abscesses teeth and strep throat.

Anyway, keep up the great work!

Holy shit! Thanks edibles.......Like a fool I missed that and was just counting myself lucky, little did I see! This is a major reason why I love Topia and you folks so much! Skunk medicine, skunk totem, fits me beyond my silly foolish personality and goes to the core....to the ESSENCE! (pun intended and also the literal interpretation too) I recently had another like this, bats, used to scare the shit out of me (for no damned good reason at all actually) and it was just conditioning from the people around me and society that created that false belief. Funny, my fear of Amanita Muscaria was based in the same bullshit fear mongering teachings too. Our society is fucked up but not worth be judgmental over!

I seem to have some correlation with the "undesirables" of the world which has indeed been my experience in this life, bats, spiders, owls, and now skunks (I, like most folk, have always steered clear of the "stinker" but now I'm going to have to change that silly false belief) ......... lesson well learned, including the knowledge that the teaching has just begun!

Thanks again for noticing that edibles.......just AWESOME! I've needed to look at this aspect for a long time...........schweet! :teeth: This whole thing has become a very rewarding series of transformations.

If this is going to be ongoing experimentation, I'll sticky the thread and perhaps others will add their experiences with amanitas too.
