Here's the thing.  I tried the L rods many times, and have made sets with bronze rod with copper tubing handles for other people for whom they work fine.  I just can't make them work.

Here's an interesting thing, before electric watches, back when they were wind-up or self wind, no mechanical watch in a metal case would last more than days or weeks on my wrist.  They'd just crap out.

Here's another thing, many times when some machine won't run, or something isn't working, all I have had to do is the laying on of hands and it starts and runs.   That said, I am a pretty good mechanic for anything old enough to not have a computer chip in it.   But so many times since I was a little kid, just touching an engine that wouldn't run was enough to put it back in commission.   When that doesn't work, I am not a bad trouble shooter and am good with tools.

Sure.

Many I times I've laid my hands on my weed eater and said:

THOU ART HEAL ... ED !  REJOICE IN THE HANDS OF YOUR LOR ...D-UH!

And the fucking thing just sparked right up.

Machines worship me like I'm their god.  It's nothing personal, it just is what it is.

I pissed in the grass last week and freakin' spark plugs grew there.  That's how I roll.  Accept it.

:)

Here's another weird thing.  Though I am really pretty good with anything mechanical, there have been two types of machines I just can't come to terms with and make them operate well.  These are sewing machines and weed eaters.   I can never seem to get the tension right on any sewing machine, and I simply find how they work a total mystery.  I mean, how do those two threads get looped together on the other side of the cloth?  It's fucking magic!  Who figured that one out?   That's the only way I can come at it.

And the weed eaters, I never buy new machines, but I get used ones and fix them if they don't work.  I bought several weed eaters and could not make any of them work for long.   I haven't had much luck fixing other people's weed eaters.    Truth be told, I really hate even using one.  They splatter shit all over you, and you have to wear a space suit and helmet to do it right anyway.   I bought only one new for a kid that was helping me around here, and when he left, I gave it to my neighbor, and now I just try to get them to do my little bit of weed eating a couple times through the season.

Sewing machines and weed eaters, black magic and the devil's work.

That's the only way I can come; a weed eater in one hand and my cock in the udder.

Sewing machines make no goddamn sense whatsoever.  Totally the work of the dark underlord.  I mean .. how the fuck does THAT shit make sense?  I've stared at the sewing machine and taunted it vociferously ... no avail.

I don't think anyone knows how they work.  Crazy.

As for weed eaters ... well, they throw shit all over you, but if you've ever been married you should be used to the sensation.

Most weed eaters are two strokes.  There's not a lot that can go wrong with a two stroke engine, and they're pretty easy to fix if you know the fundamentals and don't mind waiting for replacement parts (which often cost more than a new appliance) ...

The alternatives are either goats or a flamethrower (legal in all states but Maryland) ...

:)

Thanks so much for that, Steam!

Two of my neighbors bought brand new Honda 4 stroke weed eaters.  Both were the worst thing Honda has done (except trying to build Formula 1 engines in the modern era).   They both sucked crankcase oil into their intakes and were constantly oil fouled.   I have few issues with my chainsaws, but something goes way wrong when a 2 stroke is on a weed eater.

Steam's little video is bullshit .. I'm calling it "Fake News."

Sewing machines only function with the Al-Qaeda device that's inserted in there somewhere.

Sure, it'll connect your pieces of material NOW ... but what about when you no longer want those pieces connected?

That's when the fucking Muslims step in with their Sharia Law and their goddamn Hi-Jabbs.

Allahuah Ahkbar now, motherfucker.  I connect my shit with AMERICAN scotch-tape (it's not Scottish - that's racist) and that's that.

You'll start with your sewing machines in my classroom, then it's a downward spiral to EVOLUTION.

Monkey Boy.

You like that, don't ya?

Huh.

:)

Thanks, Skye, for making that album.  I really enjoyed my trip through it.  Now we get to see them on the front page image crawler too.    Some really great ones there.  One of the ones with the tree just passed by and sent me here to post this.

I have to agree with you Alder in regards to weed eaters. Everyone I ever had was essentially a peice of shit after two years max.

Hey Soliver, you think a sewing machine is nuts, you should try a toroidal coil winder!

Finished this today.

This is a wind chime made from a somewhat braided piece of my Melaleuca Tree. I wove the branches into the main form, and braided three smaller ones to make the ring for the chimes.

The chimes are mahogany obsidian with copper caps. The central clanger is a combination of banded agate, Jaspers, copper, and some beads that seemed to fit in.

The obsidian rings like glass, which I guess it actually is.......

So I've got a friend that is a Seahawks fan, and I never know what to get her for X-mas.  So this year I copied an idea  I saw at a craft fair, and etched the glass on the bottom of a Pyrex casserole dish.   Its on the very bottom, not on the inside, so that it wont cause food to stick.

It was more work then I guessed it would be, but I think it turned out pretty well.

So this is actually one of my photographs, well at least it started out that way, lol.

But after I was done messing with it, I decided it was more art, and less photo, so I will share it here.
