i have a abu garcia 6600c spooled with 30# braid, i've caught a 150+# spinner shark with it.i use stainless wire and use a bait needle to thread the drops in the bait. we might anywhere from 2-6 hooks in a bait depending on the size of the bait. then we connect to the main leader with a long liner clip.

Picture 029.jpg

this hook was straightened out by a big shark i was not able to even slow down with a penn 16/0

I'm completely off to the other end of the spectrum........ #4 weight fly-rod with 1X tippets and size 22 & 24 hand tied Mayflies....creeping around the various trout streams after all the riff-raff has gone and looking for natives brookies, and mushrooms.

But I'm digging the big water stuff here....nice pix and thanks for sharing. Not that I wouldn't but I've just never had the chance to do any ocean fishing. I'm very much deep inland where I haunt dark hemlock filled valleys away from everyone and everything. Where the woodlovers lurk! Are those Sea Trout stx?

Peyote there is a trophy lake here where they nail HUGE stripers after dark. Those guys will show up about an hour before dark and catch a 5 gallon bucket of slab bluegills, for bait. I've been fishing almost exactly as long as I have been mushroom hunting.......since age 4 my grandpa and pops are responsible for the introductions.....the debauchery is all mine!

:teeth:
