wow what a great thread. i have a question, can you use the oven bags right out of the box. lets say you have some poo/straw pasturized and a jar of spawn. can you just mix it right in a bag from the box?

I like the tyvek lid idea. Could you use that for a PF-style jar


yes, but
you'd need twice as many holes,
a pair at each quadrant,
one tyvek & one silicon
so you could inoculate self-sealing
and still get air exchange.
a bit redundant, imo
as a verm barrier does both

hip, is that one layer of tyvek or two? is it postal tyvek?

it's all i've been using for the last couple years at least,
great stuff, more cloth-like than that post office crap
a few dollars worth will do thousands of jars.

p.s.
on close inspection
i see the kite-maker's tyvek
is three-ply [layers]
