"here's some popcorn soaked in coffee for a day then rinsed, followed by a boil for about 25 minutes. they were then drained for a 1/2 hour until only small amounts of moisture were on the kernals. most was put into 2 quart jars with plans to inoculate with pe6 and the rest in a pint which will be nocced with a old pesa syringe that may or maynot be contamed.
-sidenote-polyfil tops and no ph buffer
once colinization occurs the plan is to put them in some manure/compost-from the bag, and case0-"

ph buffer? what would you be buffering?
you mean the possible acidity imparted by the
coffee soak?

yea tons of it cracked, so we'll see how it does, and yea i did pc for 70 min
it looks to me that the may or may not be contamed syringe was....
the other two look good but a couple of cracked kernals have some black edges -although other kernals also have a slight blackish tint on the tips; i'm thinking due to the coffee soak-

all right!
FOAF always does a 24 hour soak. He's read about people using the coffe in the soaking.
Can someone with experience explain how and why this is done? FOaf would love to check it out if it is an advantage.

hey there, my internet went down so i was not able to keep updated, since the 7th the jars took off, 3/4 colinization by the 14th, and full by 16th, right at the end the very bottom of one jar that hadnt colonized showed pin mold so it went into the garden, the other jar is doing amazing and is now awaiting transtplanding to some trays of store bought cow poo. there is a new fruiting chamber involved so it has taken a little longer.
pics will be here tomorrow.

well some cool trays were found at a local grocer that delivers about 1 and 1/2 inches of depth in 9x13 inches. i suppose 1 quart will be mixed with....2-3 lbs poo- one inch sub layer will be placed, aloowed to colonize, then a 1/4-1/2 inch casing layer will be put on, the decision still has not been made weither to use verm or coir. sounds good to me...
