they mean the lighter spot in the center of the jar in the last pic
looks like the flash to me, but could be early contamination.
is it the light or what? is there anythin growin in there? at that spot?
is that a point of inoculation?
providin it aint the flash, id quarantine anythin that looked like that :eusa_snoo

14 days is quite a while. The growth, if that is growth, looks very fine and whispy. Not typical of any cubensis strain mycelium. You should know well what it is way befroe 2 more weeks pass. Check on it again in a couple of days and let us know. What are the temps again?

it's been slow because temps have been around 70*F on average.

she put these two jars in isolation,
away from all the others-
it isn't a healthy white,
so it could definitely be cobweb...

ok, can any of the mod's help me out?
it isn't letting me upload more than one picture -
it says they are "invalid file types" yet they are they same as the first pic...

That looks like cobweb to me. It is just way to thin and whispy. Although I have seen whispy mycelium thicken up after a bit of time.

cobweb is generally very fast to fill the jar
and is kinda grey in color,
can't really be sure on that pic

Yeah looks better. Like 3 said cobweb would really be growing fast. It would have probably already taken over the jar. I think you are ok.

http://mycotopia.net...=1&d=1151166113

growing pretty fast now...
second pic is only a small patch,
but the mycelium looks so much more filled in and bright.

she sent me these tonight:

day 20:

jar 1...
http://mycotopia.net...=1&d=1151385627
http://mycotopia.net...=1&d=1151385700

jar 2: <i suspect this one might be cobweb...>
http://mycotopia.net...=1&d=1151385766
http://mycotopia.net...=1&d=1151385846

jar 3:
http://mycotopia.net...=1&d=1151385906
http://mycotopia.net...=1&d=1151385992

so as you can see,
jar 1 is an example of one of the cakes that grew mycelium only in some spots
the reason (the answer i got on here)
is most likely that she didn't shake the syringe after each innoculation point (or after each jar for that matter)

are the jars like this going to only grow partially,
or will the mycelium spread and take over eventually?
is there something she should be doing now in order to salvage them?

i actually had something very similar happen
only one of my inoculation points grew any mycelium
its slowly growing much slower than all the other jars but at the same time the mycelium looks so much stronger and better
even though its only my first time it looks leaps and bounds better than the other cakes, stronger mycelia stronger fruits?
its actually just about done but i think thats a really good way to promote strong mycelia in jars only 1 inoculation point
(not that i only did one, only one grew any for some reason)
of course i could be way off track here
but it certainly does grow just give it a little more time than the others
