It's pretty common for online forums to frown upon people that are there to promote other forums, that's why we were looking for other creative, selective ways to get the word out.

Mentioning Mycotopia on another website is one way, and people have been doing that, but I like the sticker, bookmark, tshirt, poster ideas was wondering if there were others.

A really neat signature that people will click on.
A mycotopia signature at the bottom of topiates' posts on other websites and you bound to get some clicks.

People come, but do they stay?

We had an influx of members after shroomery went down. How many of them are still here? How many of them went VIP?

I am a frequenter of the music festival scene and would be more than happy to stick stickers, wear a t-shirt, hand out flyers, whatever works. I have made recommendations to a few close friends who have sampled the fruits of my labor and they always ask me questions. In response, I send them here. Hopefully if each of us can get 2 friends to join and go VIP we can help keep the dream alive.

Also, I think a VIP print drive would be a cool thing too. I for one would be happy to contribute several prints toward such a thing where we can make it almost like a "welcome to mycotopia" package if you join at $30 or $40. "Get 5 stickers and a random print for just $10 more!"

Just an idea

I'm a musician, releasing an album in the future. Also a game developer. A lot of fans of the genre and style I play enjoy a lot of the things here. I could print business cards and put them in the CD cases as inserts with some other extras. I'm also donating 50% of my video game sales from members here purchasing, their families, friends, and after that tapers, I'm setting an amount of continuous percentage that will be donated. Also starting short films and photography, I will do my best to spread the word. I've gotten one friend to join already though he isn't very active. I could also make bookmarks and spread those around, I travel a bit now and again. Just up and leave. I'll do what I can for my home and my family here.

It varies... People come and they go, then some come back.

The site has always fluxuated, ebbed and flowed. More people active in the winter than in the summer... Etc

Thing we need to do is keep jamming ideas.

The festival scene for distribution of stickers/posters and for wearing tshirt is a great one!

Do we know anyone still active that can produce Mycotopia logo screenprint tshirt?

I believe it was mentioned in the other thread there that it was in the thousands to be sure. The exact amounts and whatnot could probably be discussed privately , but rest assured , we need to raise as much as we can as well as have a game-plan for the future.

What we are looking for is tangible ways of raising funds to pay for the overhead of Mycotopia. The ideas are flowing and we need to follow up on the good ones.

Brainstorming time ...

I am just gonna throw this out there. In conjunction with all these other great ideas, perhaps a noob or someone with less experience can upgrade to a VIP status and a more personalized tutorial with whatever subject that he or she desires. We canan pair them up with a more experienced grower through one grow or extraction etc. This would help keep more active members, IMO. I know we have the vaults and a wealth of info, but if somone were to get more one on one time they would succeed faster and learn how to navigatethe site and use it to its full potential.

That sounds legit, probably would have done wonders for SWIMs DMT extraction once upon a time. That failed miserably, he still doesn't know what went wrong. He followed it to a T. SWIM will be learning some about indoor Poppy growing someday soon thanks to his collaboration with Sheepherder in days passed. So far he has a few things he's learned to do. Poppy Tea Extract, Poppy Ice Cream, Medicinal Herbs (Headache Pills and Stomach Remedies), he's extracted LSA from HBWR, he's explored Mexican Dream Herb and he may embark on Water Lily growing as well. He's pretty good with relaxation and mental calming techniques too (Though sometimes he doesn't follow them as well as he should). He's pretty busy as of late, but once business goes down he has all the time in the world he's sure.

ok look, were talking about advertising here but what is the purpose of this advertising? Are we wanting new members in the hopes that they will donate or buy spores? I'm sure Mrs H. doesn't make much money from spores because most of us have been growing for a while now and we are self sufficient. I know that I only buy spores when I decide that I want to try and new strain, and that is very rare. Even if I did, one syringe and I'm set. I hate to say it but the only way that we are going to be able to raise funds to keep this place running is to become a pay site.

Just an idea here. How many vip's do we have? Is it possible to rotate monthly required donations between members? For instance if we have 50 vip's then one month 10 of those vips will be required to make a 20 dollar donation, and the next month it's the next 10 and so on and so on. Only thing about that is how do we make it fair to the paying members? Wouldn't be good if non paying member had access to things that paying members do. I would hate to see this site go away, I consider it more of a community than just a place to find a tek. I know the economy is pretty shitty right now and people are struggling, but come on who can't come up with $20 to donate a couple of times a year if they really care about this community. Hate to be harsh, but these are harsh times that we live in.

Or maybe we could make a mandatory print donation each month for Mrs H. to auction off. I don't know but just bringing in new members isn't going to be enough to save mycotopia, us users are going to have to support this place if we wish to see it survive, if anything it will make it more difficult because more people = more bandwidth.

Any truth to the rumor that Mrs. H is a member over at Irish's site and is negotiating some sort of, uh, I guess, "handing over of power", so to speak? I heard this somewhere.

That level of discussion seems to private for this thread , at this time, its just speculation . We go on what Zen has said , and he said more will be said soon.

Behind the curtain of mycotopia there is decisions and apparatuses in place , gears in motion and rest assured Mrs.H & Zen have an angle on it and are working on things in the way they see fit .. with input from the community at large when they participate.

Keep the ideas flowing ...

Ideas that can help keep mycotopia afloat.

No disrespect meant but whats the big secret?
Are we not worthy, as members to know whats shaking with our home.. in plain uncensored English?
I think the masses can handle knowing whats going on...
just my thoughts...
