Yep....just a tub that sits outside until it pins....then you take it inside, where it doesn't freeze, and before frost happens....strangely the first flush seems to usually die off....but fruiting rebounds

WoW @Ferather... that's a beautiful flush there. I've never had the pleasure of growing gyms, maybe one of these days. Awesome work and thanks for sharing.

Cyans put to wood from Oats a few days prior. Recovering and starting to jumpstart on to the mesquite and apple chips. I'm seeing mycelium in the outdoor bed (not thick, but it's present), but no pins or anything as of yet. I did also see some mycelium grabbing ahold in my Wine Cap beds (maybe some spring Garden Giants). Long Term Goals.

Those weren't his. Ferather has never grown woodlovers to fruit. I haven't either, but I do have outdoor beds of mycelium running that should fruit next year. Something else that he's never done. His mycelium tubs have never been taken to fruiting conditions.

Never said it was my post, very negative attitude towards learning from others. I did say I am posting for educational purposes, and not replacing teks.
Just because someone has done X for Y years does not make them a mycologist, just saying, a mycology degree does however.
Now that you have started, you can learn and show us how to get fully canopy from [just] wood chips, I am talking about 100% BE, not 10%.
I am not sure how you are able to ignore and deny facts, just because I did not do something.
----
Do you drive a car? And for how many years? Can you fix the engine if it breaks? << Can do something for many years and not know much about it.
If someone who knows nothing about the fungi they grow, but can produce 10 fruits from 10kg per year, are they a mycologist?

I did say awesome work, but it was in regard to the flush, I may have implied that it was his tray, but it's of NO concern and isn't relevant and frankly, I was just admiring something I've never worked with before. No need to dissect a post in a negative way, you are acting like he jacked your work and said it was his. Not sure why you are putting Ferather on blast like he kicked your dog or something. Your post sounds like jealousy or you have a vendetta, not sure what you were trying to accomplish (boosting EGO?... but you haven't grown them either so unsure), baffled and I hope you evaluate what you said and learn from it. All the BEST to both of you.

I don't have a vendetta, not at all. I just want him to show proof of his work himself. Not someone else's success. He talks a lot about the best scientific methods to produce full canopies to the max, but hasn't ever done it. He's never grown a single active mushroom. I like seeing new methods, but it can't just be all talk.

Absorb what is of use to you.......the rest is not yours to fuss about.....
It saves so much energy it's crazy........in the end it's all dirt...

All information, including that from outside sources is very welcome here. Credit was given and sources linked, and what we choose to do with this information is a personal choice. All of our learning does not have to come from hands on experience.
What we don't do is toss out personal discredit to another member for sharing information they have not personally tested yet.
Please at all times be respectful to each other. I should not need to remind anyone of this.

Once again I have no need for any canopies but I do know "a" path to get them.....
Put a 2 inch (about 50mm) layer of grass clippings on top of your bed and case with a 40/60 soil/mulch layer and keep wet....
There will absolutely be an "ugly" bacterial phase as the green organics are broken down...which should free up N for the fungi (and other growing things)
Good drainage is another thing to pay attention too....these dudes/dudettes LOVE landscaping mulches and automated watering sprinklers....
They also LOVE fresh air...
SIDE NOTE: anyone obtaining mycelial masses like Ferather shows is well on their way to seeing fruits......
I think, perhaps, a batch of WL TEK is in order.....
SECOND SIDE NOTE: The world, meaning HUMANS, is fucked up enough....mushroom people should strive for and lead the efforts to healing IMHO
After global catastrophes where does the regeneration start?
Peace to all of you..

Such a great community. So supportive, lovely. For me its the same as reading a document that a mycologist has posted, for example, work on agar and carbon-nitrogen sources.
For me all information derived from the testing is valid regardless of the fact the mycologist did not fruit from the agar tests.
The Azures on WL-Tek sample I have in the fridge will be experimented on, currently the surface area with highest oxygen has active bruising, its drying out a bit.
Visibly the colony looks no different to an Oyster colony, in-fact I would normally only tell them apart when fruiting, in this case bruising.
As a side note, I do my own testing and have self educated over 8+ years. I have learned more studying it, than fruiting it without study.
My first grow was 24kg of waste paper and card, I got about 10% BE, now I make 3000g and get the same value (100% BE).
====
@Arathu, That casing layer looks perfect, I like how dark it is, and I don't see any surface rhizomorphs, please post how you assembled that grow.
The casing layer looks like the one I used on Golden oyster a few years ago, which you can see in my signature link below.
The images are of a 600g WL-Tek block, removed, and cased (the same as the images in my post further above).
Going from low to high oxygen is also a fruiting trigger, as much as heavy rain.
----
As a side note I have read that the active materials in Azures and Co. are a primitive anti-oxidant.
Key search terms: fungi ros, fungi anti-oxidant.

@Arathu... sometimes we get hung up on FULL canopies for braggin' rights and what not, but in all honesty, it doesn't make a difference, either you get most of them the first round, or go a second.... even a third if you trying to get everything, I've seen firsthand from a friend's project years ago do 7 flushes over a long timeframe, but just kept on a truckin' spittin' out big fruits here and there. Believe me, once you get this down, you will have too many regardless of full canopy, or getting what you want out of it in 2. Now, is it something to strive for, absolutely, it's part of the thrill to outperform your previous work (agar work/cloning, MS can go full, but much tougher). Whatever keeps your drive and attention is all that matters, I've said it before and I'll say it again, you will probably end up with too many and send them back to the earth. I've done this at least 3 times over the last 6-8 years, but nothing is ever wasted, Dirty Maker for Life!

Ok I was I went a little over the top saying full canopy, I don't get full canopy with many species, its the end weight or even appearance that matters the most.

This post is not active fungi, I apologize, however it's 100% relevant to nitrogen (posts above), ignore it if you want, use it if you want.

My colonies seem to be doing okay, ovoid patch seems happy, not hard to find mycelium.
Knocked a garden bed with winecap at the end of summer, just checked it recently and found myc everywhere =D
I've had a pint of cannabis and mullein stems colonizing with ovoid for a good long while,

and finally put it in a larger container with hickory chips,

I'm wondering if I shouldn't try a time lapse since island effect is uh.. in effect.
Another colony was getting wrecked by fungus gnats, and it got several weeks of fridge treatment, seems like the gnats are gone, so now I'm watching to see how long before it starts moving again.
I'm increasingly interested in behavior and intelligence/computation in colonies, and I'm trying to come up with good questions. Maybe someday I'll do actual science, for now I'm just kicking my own ass to write everything down lol.
Anyway, cheers, it's 2023, stuff is getting weird, I'm wishing you all well, may your hearts and bellies be filled.

Off to a good start I can see, looks active to me unless that is the light, I am taking note the growth with highest oxygen (the surface area) has the blue tint whereas the lower growth (with less oxygen) shows limited, less tint. Hopefully that's not the light.
I've read that the active materials (which are composed of carbon-nitrogen, other), are a primitive anti-oxidant, and mycelium utilize oxidation to breakdown materials, it would make sense to see more with more oxygen.
