Some information related to oxygen, ignore it if you want.

Here is the growth of some wild bird seed spawn and WL-Tek nutritional paper pellets (added plant fertilizer, enriched), grow-up style (grows towards oxygen).

 

                    

 

Notice the change as it gets closer to oxygen, and band formed when consolidating (getting thicker).

 

 

Even with the lid left on, the colony tried to fruit from areas with highest oxygen, but produced no cap (requires oxygen) .

Finally got ovoid mycelium out to their bed! How late is too late for spring fruits? 

 

Now all of my beds are complete. Azures, cyans, subs and ovoids.

A good rule of thumb has been don't expect fruits until the following year but check anyway......

 

Certainly you will want to make sure the beds never dry out....so looking just comes as pat of care-taking....

Oh, I'll be checking!! With the mild weather that we have here I am hoping that they do well enough to pop a few this year.

 

Does anyone think that caerulescens would live here in southern coastal Oregon? We have very mild winters and summers.

Just looking for some more shrooms that would live here and fruit in season that isn't just fall/winter

I'd say to definitely try caerulescens, especially the ones from Georgia or South Carolina. Start some spores for indoor grows too! :)

Careuelscens are fully colonized and consolidating and I'm dragging my feet. I haven't read much as I've been pretty bad lately. 

My gut says woodchips to outdoor, but It's southern so probably doesn't need cold...

Yeah. I'd plant them on a south facing side of my house/yard to get the most warmth. That, and inside my greenhouse. But it goes from hot to the 50's at night in the summer.

Things that come to mind.......I've never had any luck if direct sun was shining on my mushrooms....

 

I like to let the sun heat mass like big stones and blocks, metal, fluids, and then radiate that into the surroundings.....

 

Beds on the north side of thermal heat sinks.....keeps the sunshine off in the northern latitudes

 

I protect from winter with layers of leaves....

I don't think caerulescens could handle your cold Rocky? Maybe Aztecorum, Subaeruginosa, Serbica? It'd be really cool to try hopii or mescaleroensis!

Have to take what I can find! I was thinking about even attempting the indoor woodie grows but my window is shrinking possibly if we need a bit of cold. Azteccorum is the the only thing I really want to try at this point. A native woodie would probably take over my whole property LOL.

 

I do get a decent short season so hopefully they can pop before a spring or fall pounding. 

Cyans are back on grain from clones as I couldn't print. Ovoids never took to agar, but I do have some backups around.
