kitchen counter top style grow...

culture source - mexican ninja and part time male super model. currently playing role as evil guy in soap opera.

substrate - ground brown rice, rye grass seed and vermiculite.

i have also had success with straw/sand/vermiculite. the data is recorded in a parallel universe so i will get back to that later.

casing - not sure. likely cactus soil, peat, vermiculite and calcium. had some left overs.

RH - not measured.

FAE - not measured.

temps - much of the trial period with these was during summer with some extreme heat spikes that barrerae did not respond well to. it seems to prefer cooler temperatures around 70-78 degrees F.

lighting - 6500k daylight cfl and ambient light. some fruits are a little twisted as they were moved around a lot.
barrerae is one of the most phototropic species i have encountered. with the exception of cubensis.

no special order for the pics. these are just some of my favorites.

I don't want to start a discussion about wheter or not, blueing has relationship to potency.. BUT...

When capsulating the powder, I always notice. that the darker the blue. the more they mess me up... EVERYTIME. Never fails. but that coloring looks AWSOME! I swear!! the darker the BETTER!!

most know the blueing is the oxidation of the drug, it stands to reason that the darker the blue the more oxidation that has occured ie. the more drug present in the specimen.

The Barrerae are very cool, wheres the trip report on those babies?

I like that old school growing out of the jar style. Reminds me of the olden days before the PF Tek.

wow, this thread has been more active than I have.

Barrerae was reclassified as zapotecorum a while back. the experience is pretty much the same as the sawmill zapos so I won't argue the decision.
