So i have seen similar topics posted on forums like what did you do to your reptiles today etc. So here we can post those small tid bits of info which you want to share with us but dont think it quite needs a thread to itself.

today i transplanted two of my cactus species i have seedlings of into new soil and better containers. The first here are my 9 month old Koehres Peruvian torch seedlings.

there are 16 of 40 seeds planted, not bad sprouting and i just planted the remaining seeds to sprout, like 20 or so.

Seedling PT.jpg

And my Ariocarpus Retusus subssp Trigonus seedlings got moved into new soil but the same container and also planted with the rest of its sister seeds. 9 or 15 seeds came up the first time and one is a twin, one is grafted and one or two died maybe? these are 10 months old

And after the first week of waiting one of the 7 seeds of Mimosa Hostilis seeds i planted came up. i did 7 as a test batch and in the next week or two if no more come up i will plant another 20 seeds of the 40 i had.

So what did you do in your botanical garden today?

EDIT: oh here is some porn from my aztekium ritter flowering three blooms at once, happened the other day, got two more blooms since but i have never seen 3 at once like this.

First off beautiful loph flowers. you have some nice plants there.

second, holy shit thats a lot of trichocereus right there, what cultivars are they? i assume at least a couple are known hybrids? if this is just what you cut for propagation what else are you not showing us haha?

Thanks! The Trichos are peruvianus, pachanoi and bridgesii type plants, all exept the pachanoi grown from seed. No hybrids with known parents, just commercial seeds. I cut about half the larger plants I have. The remaining ones will be repotted into larger sqared pots soon. the stumps will go into containers with fresh soil as well, and will be given away when the have a few new shoots. The limbs will be planted next year or so.

maybe I'll take some pix of the repotting, too

I finally moved all my pots up from the basement to outdoors. A couple of torches and a few bridgesii and a couple pedros. I had an awesome thing going last spring, about a dozen nice 18in cuttings and a little extra  to experiment with. Experiment with tea was fun even if a little gut retching but i started all dozen cuts. Over winter my dog slipped through a broken step and knocked the light down on them. Melted about half to DEATH and ruined the growing tips on others OOps I didnt find out for 2 days but did remember the racket on the stairs. Anyways, back at it and would love a bunch of healthy looking specimens again. Im planting the survivors in the ground this summer to get the best possible growth I can from them. Keep at it everyone.

Since last summer was spent in the pokey, Im doing all the stuff I planned on last summer. A lot of hops, a strawberry bed and raspberry bed. Two types of oysters on straw and logs, some winecaps, shitaki, maitake and hen of the woods. All the cultures have survived with no contams in the fridge for just over a year. Even got a few gigantiums, danish flags and hens and chicks in the ground. PFC in the works and cyans when I get some time to work on those.

No pic, but I placed some dry Tansy (Tanacetum vulgare)[thanks world seed supply] around my lopho w. to ward off spirits and insects, and checked moisture on n. rustica seedlings

Yesterday was a busy day for me. Then again most days are when it comes to gardening and my cacti.

Sky Watcher was kind enough to send me some of his extra Pereskiopsis so i went ahead and used one of his and one of my other ones for some grafting.

I have been growing these Trichocereus peruvianus seedlings for 9 almost 10 months and they are still pretty small. they are koehres 2012 stock so I hope that it is actually something close to a peruvian torch or bridgesii and not those cuzco he sent to like everyone. Talking to other forum members it seems that most seeds bought from 2002-2006 or so were not normally what they were suppose to be. Thats one reason why im grafting these because i cant wait another 3 years for these things to finally reach a foot tall.

I mean i can wait but i want to see at least one of them grafted.

The first one here is on my old stock, i choose not to use the plastic wrap tech because it always moves my scion off from where i placed it on the vascular ring and has caused a couple of my grafts to fail. When grafting seedlings to peres i have tried two with and 2 without plastic wrap and the two without worked just fine. So when i did these PT seedlings i used no plastic wrap.

Peres1.jpg

Second Graft, i like the green on this scion better, the other cactus was more pale.

peres.png

And my third graft to one of my pereskiopsis i already had. i used the Spear/impalement tech on an aztekium ritteri pup. I have tried grafting to pereskiopsis with aztekium before but it failed with a flat ccut, so i figured what the hell i will try to spear it. With the guide of a teacher i was able to do the tech yesterday and now comes the waiting.

I'm in the process of replanting a bunch of peyote seedlings into Turface, basically gravel made from fired clay.

What's the reason for doing this?

I'm replanting because they were overcrowded in their previous container. I chose the material because it's fast-draining and airy.
