Man those look beautiful, do you ever get any seedlings that pop up because the seeds just fall? Also is it potted outside out is it in the ground?

Looking real good LoneRanger !

Love the blue coloration showing up on the Juuls.........

How much longer do you expect you will get on this seasons growth period? I am in So. California, and will see no slow down until late October/ November here.

Your grafts are obviously responding well to your caring hands.......

They are outside in pots, but soon I'll be putting them in the ground. And I haven't had volunteer seedlings, but my old landlord had one that was 20 years old and and 15 feet tall like a fuckin tree. That one had alot of volunteers pop up around it.

Thanks Skye. Just put some lophs to 50% sand and 50% cacti-mix. I'm going to acquire a few more additives and build a few more soils to compare.

Second try at lophs I think a combo of overwatering and a south facing window was disaster before.

Not quite a month and I think my season is almost over. Thinking about chopping the stringbean into root stock and grafting ikaros or lophs. New to grafting. Still getting used to seasons in 5a, I thought it was 4b. Either way weather is bipolar and it could snow any day.

Comparing growth from less then a month with introduction of manure-compost tea.

Should I downsize pots?

The Scopulicola x tpm graft is getting quite a nice crest now Boebs ! Looks great.

Rocky, The new growth is fattening nicely. The narrowing at, and up from the base will eventually become a weak point however. If it was mine, I would take the entire fat upper section and root that. The lower narrow section I would take one cutting leaving about 6" in the pot, and root that on its side. The base will continue to put out pups, and the sideways start will likely produce more than one pup.

You will have a good colony in little time that way. As far as downsizing pots, a wider root spread will support more size, but I would eventually get into a terra cotta that has some weight for stability. Looking good !

Incoming photodump. Been working my garden & cacti's all morning.

collection.JPG

Introduced some succulents that have never been outside to my covered deck. Then eventually to full sun. Quickly learned who could tolerate it and have left them all in partial since.

burnt.JPG

Seems to be recovering. I always start a backup prop. before I go full sun or make big changes with soil/water/sun.

Tons of Ikaros seedlings unsure if I should just let them ride out this fast draining mix for a bit longer or start transplanting a few and see what happens.

Thanks to a very kind and generous member here, I'm the proud Papa of about 12 baby Lophs. I noticed some green through the condensation and upon further inspection, a happy dance ensued!

I also noticed a fruit on my Selenicereus grandiflorus, ready to be popped in your mouth.

I reserved some of the seeds to be planted later, JIC. Between my two and four legged animals, "accidents" happen. :)

So this and another pachanoi seem to be going spineless, I can't say I'm upset. All my others have really come into they're own and really laid on the spines but these 2 are shrinking :)

My son called this the cactus gang this morning! So an almost end of season update, I need to find a place for all of them come winter time..... I might buy a small green house and put another green house in it so it's double walled from the winter cold. The indoor dessert
