Boebs,

Lately I have been laughing at the idea that we sometimes seem to have the same cactus......................

My smallest Bridgesii sported two base pups this winter as well.

Actually that one is 5 ribbed. You can see at the top there is one more running down the backside, but the angle of the picture makes it look like there are only four.

I have seen lophs split from taking in too much water when the skin is not able to stretch anymore. Most frequently when they were left out in heavy prolonged rain for days.

A past member here, Spanish Fly, had some success with simply drying them out, and dusting the open split with cinnamon, or sulphur, and letting it scar well.

Unfortunately the visible scar will remain, but the whole cactus can continue growing to eventually not show the old split so much.

Has there been a bout of wet weather for you lately?

We had a shittyy weather front come threw a few nights ago.. i figured it was from over water and being grafted onto selenicereus grandiflorus.. makes for great growth but.. i feel maybe too much growth..
What worries me is the split went into the center of growth..

I did see that, but I have also seen these resiliant cactus overcome the worst of mishaps and damage. I had some varmint decide to eat one once, and chewed off 75% of the top. A year later it had produced a side pup that was taking over as the new crown.....

Looks like a good time in your future!

Thanx Boebs; not going to jump into the deep end this time; still a bit of a noob so... did take about a third of what you can see above about a week ago; wanted to see if what I had was the real deal; turns out it was. Also turns out the medicine is a bit tough on my body; lots of tension in my jaw during the experience, got some sort of eye-strain / headache at the tail-end which stuck around well into the following week; so I'm weary of taking as much as what you can see above all in one go. I think my plan for now is to split the above up into about 6 doses; and take them with 1g doses of cubensis...

Dangg,, sorry to hear it was rough on your body, perhaps did you limit certain types of food? I know there are alot of different things that can either help or hurt along the way, like fermented anything stay away from 12 hours prior. I find this true even with cubies, i eat alot of kimchee.. and found i will be veryy sick..
