Alright everyone I got a question for you, how what are your feeding methods? I assume that where my plants are in 30% soil 5% worm castings and the rest is lava rock sand and pea pebbles I'm as close to soulless media as you can get. Therefore I use liquid nutrients one a monthly basis I use gen hydro 2 part with micros and others on many of my other plants and for the cacti I use a small amount of the part b once a month and I like the results I'm getting. I'd like to know how else you guys feed your baby's I need to get rid of 20 and I want to tell those who receive them how to feed them

I use plane garden soil mixed with perlite and smalll pebles.
Seems to work out fine for me so far.

I also use a nutrient poor,  coarse soil for Lophs, and plain garden dirt with pearlite or small rock for Trich's. I do not need to hibernate my plants, but I still only feed them when its the peak of growing season.

Lophs I only feed about 3 times from late spring untill around September. The Trich's are fine if I don't feed them, but I will at the same time as the lophs.

I use a 50% dilution of a cactus juice food ,3/6/6 on the lophs except around July when I give them one heavy feeding for the year with a diluted 10/10/10, or a re-feeding with worm castings.

The Trichs get a kelp plant food which is pretty safe organic a few times in summer.

I do not feed past September so as it gets cooler they have used all the food up and can slow down for the winter months.

When I see your growth rate I think it's the love you give to them that make them grow so fast.

It's one of several, but I like it because it's low enough in nitrogen to be relatively safe.

As far as fert, I use grow better as a top dressing. Works great. Then once in a while a little cal mag, fish fert and sea weed.

Got some transplanting done today. Some say that you dont need to transplant cactus to bigger pots too often. But that is not true in my experience. I'll post more about that later.

Also, I wish I had kept better labeling. My first seed batch had labels washed off. I was able to clearly identify 3 different crosses, the others are mysteries. First one is
1: SSO2 × PC
2: Yowie × Wowie
3: lost label, either Lumberjack × IkarosDNA, IkarosDNA × KGC, or Big Bertha × Huanucoensis. I'm guessing LJ
4: SS02 × Serra blue a gift from a homie
So many more to tranny690aded89965aabee5175436e2e73b47.jpga00e51e822dee84192ae1e2fb3284967.jpg81037f63bf57301561933dc02dda7a00.jpg60b4b1b44fef4ec1ab9cd5ce9d1c67c0.jpga480f15249bf367cf8a45b4274b26501.jpg

I've been reading "The Stone Eaters" and trying out different soil mixes related to the ideas in the book.  Basically, I'm building soils from mineral constituents then, I consider a little bit of something for the cactus to eat.  As different varieties grow in different environs, I try to build the soils around said environs.  Things like Pereskiopsis, I give much higher allotments of organics; where as raw Williamsii buttons might not get more than 2% worm castings in its growing medium to act as available food.

I've also been trying some compost teas, with small amounts of organics being used.  I feel like one batch of tea that I put together made a bunch of Lophophora scions throw pups.  I'm trying to redo that batch to figure out what was making the buttons throw pups.  I know it was mostly maple leaves in the compost, but haven't heard of any natural growth hormones being present in large leaf maple.

Today, I decided to get sexy in the grow room.  I let the boy parts touch the girl parts, and now I'm hoping for some babies.

How old are these grafts

Around a year and a half.  When they came out of their winter cycle they started throwing lots of flowers (one of those has flowered 4 times in the past two months).

I also had a Fricii flower over night.

So my grafted scopulicola decided it wanted to be free and on its own roots..

I came home and found it "knocked" over.
Turns out it pushed roots threw the point of connection.
