lookin great!!
do you really think that the plastic being too close is a problem?
after this flush i tried the "inject the cake with a syringe" method for rehydrating.. i had a 60 ml syringe.. and i opted to put about 10 ml's every 2 inches..
I really dont think its enough to make a really nice 2nd flush, so i would suggest dunking
They are easy to flip out of their boxes.. and a new box is easily contructed.. I was reading about how reverend trip rehydrates his logs.. it seems that they are easily dunked in a tub for about 3 hours (since you should have a few that arent in use, laying around) and left to drain for about a day. Im gonna do just that and drain by use a rack from the oven, for the 3rd flsuh

the substrate should come right up even with the edge of the box for best results,
prevents stagnant air from pooling in the box

Ok but then the plastic cover will touch the substrate in the middle of the box and/or no air at all will be present - then , all the small holes in the cover will be pretty useless as venting? I have 1-2" between sub and cover, it works, but I also vent manually daily.
I guess what I dont figure is....:is very little airspace( between substrate and plastic cover as in tek mentioned above) better than some airspace when colinizing and fruiting these boxes?
I dunked the big box mentioned above in its plastic bag in the box for some hours, pulled up the plastic bag over the colonized straw slab, hung i t over a sink and cut small holes in the bottom of the bag to let it drain well. Then back in the box in a new black bag, had to fight off a bit of cobweb with H2O2 but besides to that it all seems healthy - waiting for pins now.
Btw, the almost ripe testbox from above is flushing again, better flush, gave it a good watering after picking first flush....need to adapt a good strawdunking tek....:
Im enjoying the SA strain, its treating me well, Im keeping it alive...

I let this box sit over night before harvest, its one of the best flushes I ever had, multispore SA -> popcorn -> straw - > cardboard box with plasticbags, guess I'll stick to this tek for while....
