Dayum Wharf...ya give a brother hope in them shoeboxes...my initial inclination was to go with a massive tub but figured lose a little or lose a lot. It's not a hard choice.

bigger is not always better (that's what she said) DOH!  i love my dubs, i've gone big and lost big, it hurts when you spend all that time and energy, make 1 huge tub, and it tams out. these are much more manageable. and IMO produce better.

I agree. Being pretty new to growing I like doing smaller projects like trays and bags. I have a dubtub fruiting now and Plan on spawning my first mono tomorrow. Definitely glad I got some experience with smaller subs.

Wharfat , why did you use aluminum foil lids instead of the plastic that comes with the container ? For fresh air? Thanks ,I know I should not need to ask.

I've been reading so much I can remember, though I should know.

the lids don't seal very well, so i seal it up good with foil, poke a couple holes in it and cover with micropore tape.. i have no problems answering questions

we will see, my friend! you could be right, i've never used a clear liner, but i'm confidant we will not see many side pins during the first flush. now subsequent flushes will produce side pins because the liner peels away in places from soaking the sub, allowing air to get to it.

allowing air to get to it.

Now I believe fresh air in and less CO2 on the sides mixed with some light.... You are on to a good theory! Evaporation I think will just dry things out. :)

Very nice dub tub action my brother.

I love seeing simplicity shown to be as effective if not more so than an overly complicated automated set up. IMHO the more complicated you make it, the more chance it has of going south on you.

A very nice set up brother, keep up the good work and thanks for sharing.

i realize everyone posting is thinking burma must be bad ass, no, it's wharf who is bad ass!  lmao.. JUST JOKING! seriously though, you can see these results with just about any cubensis strain (some exceptions) just look at my gallery, all of those tubs are 6qrt shoebox tubs. I'ts just all about the way you grow it. K.I.S.S

edit: i have changed my sub slightly throughout they years but nothing else

Great pics for the newer growers.  Excellent and informative thread, to be sure.  And even a bit self-deprecating, which is always a plus, lol.

Is the first pic right off the incubator? Does that look like knotting or just the sub texture?

Also, are you going to use fahtster's late casing by exposing to light and fae right after casing or will you wait until some of it is colonized?
