I was under the assumption that the poly just dried so fast after it came out of the pc that it would be fine but if it stayed wet I'm sure it could do just that.

If the poly fill becomes wet in the pc process It acts like a highway to cotam city.. correct?

This is one reason I do not use poly.  But it should not be a big problem as long as he does not shake his jars until it dries.  I don't see how it would be a problem to noc through wet poly as long as it was under foil just before noccing.

Polyfill is made of plastic so it will not mold.

What do you mean don't shake till it dries?

Don't shake the grain up into the poly fill until the polyfill is dry.  You probably should not let the grain come into contact with the polyfill at all.  Another reason I don't like to use polyfill.

Okay might have already messed that up…The WBS tek I was using said shake after PCing..It didn't mention not to let the grain contact the polyfill. I guess theres many lessons to learn. Hopefully it will we okay..

I don't know if anyone else lives by that, I just don't like my poly to get grain leavens on it.

My logic is that if it is wet or if a contam gets in there some how it will have nothing to live off of if the poly is clean.  But if the poly has grain leavens on it the contam has something to eat and the ability to expand itself, possibly into my grain.

Makes sense, I'll keep it in mind next round. Okay new LC is out of the PC and it is MUCH clearer than before. Still an off white but should be good to 'hoc up tonight I hope

Its more like you "bump" the jars to bust up clumps after the wbs comes out of the PC. Ideally you've left some head room at the top of the grain which will help also to avoid contacting grain on the polyfil. You'll probably be okay anyways regardless.

I shake the hell out of em against the polyfill, never had any issues myself. I think it is fine, I did it for years and years without problems.

I feel like any other kind of filter like filter disks and patches will also have the same challenges as polyfill would, ie all can get wet and become contamination vectors, but that seems pretty rare to me.

I almost never get contaminations when I am working with clean culture and I almost exclusively use polyfill except when it's filter patches in bags (and I shake indiscriminately).

I dunno why but I have never had a warm fuzzy feeling about polyfill.

But if TR says it works, it works.

Punch a whole through with a screw driver and hammer , take the end off a fresh clean smoke and stuff it in the hole pressure cook away I'll vouch for this one working from personal experience.

Agar in a jar tek only problem is that the jars are difficult to see through enoki 2 weeks old looks good no clear sign on contamination.
This was more just a test but you can see I used butts and medical tape and it does work.

Fuckkkkk. The innoc did not go well…On a few holes the needle pushed the polyfil into the jar. On the others the hole did not close. It looks as tho the polyfil melted a bit during the PC.. I covered up with some med tape but i think its too late.. Ughh live and learn I guess

can you easily get silicone? Here's my little guys with the self healing injection point (SHIP) they last at least 5 injections and 5 pc runs before I toss them.. Technically you should have an air port with a filter like the ones found here (and all over the site):

I like using the red high heat silicone it will last for years of use.  I also drill a second hole in the middle and silicone some postal Tyvek to it for an air exchange filter.

I like to use the plastic ball lids because they do not rust and last for a long time.
