Just trying to put a finger on how much time people spend here in any given month. Poll is completely voluntary, but I will NOT be adding up hours in posts, only the poll hours will be added.

Additionally, I wouldn't mind knowing your favorite places to hang too. Like, what parts of the site do you find yourself spending most of your time in? I know there are a lot of "work in progress" sections of the site, we'll get there, but for now, with what's active --- what's the most used parts of the site?

Lastly, what would you like us to work on? What is important to you, our members? How satisfied are you with what we've been doing lately, and do you feel like we're meeting your needs?

These polls are PRIVATE, meaning no one will see your specific answers. They are also MULTIPLE CHOICE. So give it to us straight.

We're just looking for an aggregate so we can make some decisions around the Jan1 timeframe as to our new direction. We have been working on A LOT of backend shit over the last few months and should have a big announcement to make around Jan1 as well.

Keep it coming folks, we're here for you. Please comment on anything I've left out.

Note: The contents of this thread will likely set the direction of the staff for the next 3-6 months. ;)

It seems no matter where I start I always wind up in the vaults reading......and reading, and reading some more. IMHO there's simply no way I could honestly complain about the pointers to knowledge available here at Topia and the environment is very conducive to learning. I will eventually be selling gourmet and probably medicinal mushrooms from the skills.

As with most polls, I'm too weird for the choices.

I came here to get help with a specific shiitake logs problem.  I didn't get that, but liked the people.

I don't do the lab stuff, so while I'm interested in the grow stuff, it's not the spore to shroom stuff.  I am not doing legally banned grows, though I highly oppose prohibition and the criminalization of victimless crimes.  The pharmacopoeia should be property of the people, not the corporate state and its owners.  Knowledge should be free and I oppose the very concept of intellectual property.  I oppose all corruption, which is the payoff of this international/cultural game of Keep-Away.

While I am spending less time here, this is still seen as my online community.  I miss so many people who have left since I came in the door.  It's not what it was then, but I hope for the best.  There is something about the psychedelicized mind that makes this community what it is.  This shifts its center and widens the bandwidth of that center.  I love you folks.

The old platform worked well for me.  This one, not as well.  The downtime changed much in the way of community, as it appears to me.  I keep hoping to see more old friends.

I think the moderation has improved some, as I don't see free thinking discussions, like the one on the ramifications of extra-terrestrial life being dumped into the Twilight Zone as "illusions and delusions."  Very disrespectful, in my opinion.

I'm not a tech person, and I don't know what and why the platform had to change.  I wish it had gone smoother.  I appreciate that it's been a monumental effort.  I look forward to new life here.

Added another question, sorry, but you'll have to delete your vote and re-vote to be able to answer it. Sorry!

Thanks to all who answer, this is a great opportunity to really let us know what's important to you.

Alder: I know polls cannot capture everything as they are not verbose enough, but statistically speaking, if your info isn't captured there it will not be counted. A voice that was seen but not heard. As much as I can agree with you on your points, the closest answers you can come to in the poll, as honestly as those are put, will really help us a lot.

I hate to pigeon hole you, but we need honesty right now --- from everyone. Your votes will be seen, heard, and acted upon.

Okay, I have checked boxes twice but not pulled the lever each time.

I will vote the first two polls. Until, "do not, or can't, judge" is added to the last two, there is nothing for me to say in those.

Oops.

Oh well.  I see it didn't work the way I did it.

I see steady progress. I do not see every single thing I want (anywhere) , but IMO things are steadily improving. I still really miss private chat, but have compensated with over lengthy PM's. I am willing to see how things continue, because I am happy here, learn much, and enjoy the friendships that have been made.

These are the things that have irritated me: Links to no where, not able to post pictures on PM's, not able to copy and paste using IE (could before), and when I open likes the dial just spins and spins and same for my conversations. my two cents.

Your great work in making a place where we can exchange ideas is valued highly and appreciated more than we tell you, however the value resides in the diversity of the members and their willingness to share their experiences rather than the specific format of the platform itself.

Whether at the corner Pub, the local coffee house, or the office water cooler, it is the conversation not the setting which is most valuable, so every little tweek you provide which facilitates communication and eases archive retreival is valuable, and I am indebted to you for that difficult work.

I have drifted away a bit from this forum, but that is no reflection on you or your great strides in bringing us into the modern age of Phones and Tablets which is very helpful in maintaining the diversity which I find so valuable.  The only thing I miss, is the ability to flip back and forth between private chats and general conversations, though I understand the security issues involved.

Keep up the good work, and please continue to allow as much diversity as you possibly can, and Thank You.

P.S. Love the blue mushroom wallpaper!

Spooner! I thought you fell off. That was really well put and I appreciate your view and agree with it. Diversity, intelligence, a sense of welcome and respect is why I chose this site over the others..

> Chat rooms
> Keep the 'likes' for individual posts

> An updated background every now and then is nice and refreshing to see

> Perhaps new designs for the title image every season or something-- created and voted upon by our own members

Really nothing major needs to be changed in my oppinion, just a few things to increase individual involvement (chat, votes, etc.) and an active 'refreshment' noticible to all ppl who log in (something like visual background or title changes). Just to keep things feeling 'alive' by subtle changes every so often (every couple months/ seasonaly). As everyone knows and has stated, the downtime during major conversions really hurts the community. That last one that lasted many months was killer. Like others i wait for the day to see the return of some great members who seemed to have disappered due to the long downtime. I know that downtime is directly related to these major overhauls but it just needs to be considered since its impact may actually be worse than its original intention.

PS: The button i ONLY really use is the "View New Content" button. I love a big picture view of the community.

Well, I'm not sure what it's worth, but if you guys want some doodles I can scan in and touch up/edit for use on the forum anywhere, mushrooms, anything (mainly cartoony or cute, unless you want more realistic nature-type stuff) I don't mind helping out.

I'm already SLOWLY working on that banner thing, but I love to make art simply for the joy of it and knowing that others will dig it, so I'm happy to help out with any of that.

Personally, I think it might be cool to have a little illustration/cartoonish banner for each section like "here we grow" and "counter culture" and stuff. I'd love to do that.

I definitely want to interact more with the chat, but I have no idea when anyone's on. Maybe we should have a chat meetup thread. Maybe I'll get on that in the near future...

Apart from that I love this place. I love the site design (lovely lovely CSS and great color scheme). Keep up the good work!

My opinion is that some inner circle drama has kind of detracted from the community feel of the site, Im not sure of anything lately, but it did seem there was some bad blood going around here.

I think the key to fixing things is to just have a good and respectful attitude twords others, (which generally is the case).  I would also say the mods and people who run it should reflect general values of peace and love rather than throat cutting and negativity.

Still love this place and you people

Technically, I think a list of posts or threads made or updated within the last 24 hours somwhere at the bottom would be good so you could pop into the most active discussions. Like a recent topics section. Otherwise technically other than chat, i think the new improvements are great

We do have exactly that. Click the "view new content" button on the upper right part of every page. Also in the forum main page,
