It's been f'en hot here, they have forecast a high today of 78*...

I know that wont earn me a lot of sympathy from most people in most places, but that is damn hot for here.

These are record temps for here, we get an average high temp of only 63* and that is in August. The green house got over 100 yesterday with the doors and window open, we had to pull all of the peppers outside to keep from cooking them.

I'm not sure I'm in the correct fourm any more...

One of my pepper plants seems to have grown mushrooms...

I have no idea what they are, any ideas?

Those look like intentional mushrooms. This was a surprise?

Absolutely a surprise, and this pepper plant is on it second year with that soil.

It's has spent some time outdoors on the deck, and maybe a few weeks in the green house last year, but mostly its lived on the floor in front of the big south facing picture window inside the house.

I don't remember exactly what I used for its soil, it could be a blend of anything, but most likely a blend of compost and commercial potting soil.

We just discovered the mushrooms today when we went to water the plants.

Those do look pretty intentional but I have no reason no to believe you juthro. Props on the garden man! Mine is looking pretty good this year but it was all thrown together at the last minute so I am embarrassed to post any pics. Next year it will be out together a little better and I will start a thread.

There is always room in my thread if you decide you want to share a couple of pics Doc. And I am still scratching my head about the mushrooms.

I should say I am a PF grower by nature, and I am not even sure I could pull off a symbiotic grow alongside a pepper plant if I tried (of any kind of mushroom).

No, they don't. I am going to try and get a spore print and see what I can see.

I had to harvest some peppers from inside the house.
indoor peppers.jpg

The red bell's are Ruby Kings, the jalapenos are Felicity's, and the yellow mini bells are Yum Yum Gold's.

The Yum Yum Gold is the plant that has the mushrooms growing in its pot.

It is actualy from seed out of some sweet god that had a sexual identity crisis, Sweet God is a F1 hybrid that is 70% Indica / 30% Sativa, but with this being an F2 I don't really know for sure what parent it is following the traits of. I have done a horrible job with this plant and her sisters. I just haven't been able to make them happy. I was ashamed to show you a picture of the whole plant, but what it does have for buds are sugared up quite well.

And I agree, it needs to sit under the lights a little longer before she is ready for harvest. But it is getting close.

Hehe, it happens to everyone from time to time, no shame in that. It might not even be operator error, sometimes they just don't want to cooperate. Even if the plant looks ugly, the buds look good!

Thanks Numbers! I think the mushrooms look cool too!

And thank you TR, this particular strain seems to not be a real good fit for me, but I am still thankful that I have what I have.

I need to get some more pics of the garden, but I have a bunch of work to do first....

The paprika seems to do just fine under the 12/12 lighting in my upstairs office.

This may be the best looking potato patch I've grown here yet.

Those are looking really nice Juth. Are they planted in mounds? What kind are they...

We used to plant 4 long rows in a mound all the way down about 12" high. They produced really well doing them like that.

Can't wait to see how they look in a few weeks ! I miss my large garden :-(

Thanks MM. They didn't start off as mounds, but as they grow we keep mounding up around them. Last year we tried to grow them in a framed box, and then make it taller by adding boards and mounding up inside of the box. I have had some success with that method back when I lived in the Willamette Valley, but we didn't get much of a crop out them last year, so we tried something different this year.

As far as types of potato's, we are growing russets, French fingerling's, and a red's. The russets seem to be doing the best, but they are all growing well.

The theory is that potato's don't grow down in to the ground, but if you mound up on the plant they will start new spuds below the new soil level, and then the plant will grow taller, then repeat. We started flush to the ground, but have so far mounded up about a foot and a half. I am hopping to get a good crop this year, and so is the local food bank, as we donate our extra.

:)
