By the time I got to page 5 it stopped telling me what places were where or who. I figured out how to get to page 50, but unless that mushroom is your place I couldn't guess which one was.

BTW if you don't want to scroll through 50 pages, you have to type "50" in the title.

Awesome collection, makes me think back to some of the shacks I have built and lived in, especially the trailer conversion, that's memories for me!!

I'm building an 8X23 tiny house on a stripped travel trailer frame at the moment next to my proposed shop site.  I'm also helping on a 16 foot tiny house, also on a trailer frame next door for my neighbor's disabled son, for which I sawed all the framing materials.

Two pics of building the floor.  The OSB underneath and the plywood sub-floor were painted both sides.  The joists were glued and screwed from underneath through the steel frames.  R-19 inside before the plywood was glued and nailed onto the fir frame.

Two more joists to go there.

gallery_131808_1489_43472.jpg

Here's the hired framer doing the framing and sheathing (assisted by the unpaid help and cameraman {he works fast - I work slow}).

gallery_131808_1489_60136.jpg

The double dormers really slowed things down.

gallery_131808_1489_99702.jpg

Here's a shot of the 23 footer down the hill on my land.

gallery_131808_1489_100229.jpg

The floor is similar to the 16 footer.  The roof is more complex with a ventilation scheme and 2X8 rafters.  R-19 will go in and air will circulate from soffit vents to ridge vents.

I love the idea of using the roof as a heater, I have made a few of these with solar attic fans that instead of pumping air out, collected it and pumped it back to the basement, or lower floor to heat the place in the winter. In the summer you could reverse it to cool the roof a bit, but I never lived there that long to see if that worked. I just wish the solar attic fans weren't $100 a pop!!

Just some notes for anyone wanting to build on a travel trailer frame:

The 23 footer was a moldy, leaky, abandoned travel trailer that I saved from being parked on a dead end road.  Tearing it down was a horrible job and it cost me almost $200 to dump what was not burnable or recyclable.  The 16 footer came from Craigslist for $300, already rendered to the frame, and I did the 50 mile tow job.  I told the neighbor lady, "don't you dare dicker on the price, as the guy has definitely earned the money!"  These come up on Craigslist pretty often, and usually reasonably priced.  They are not really good for towing with a heavy tiny house built on them, because they really aren't made for that much weight.  But if the tiny house doesn't have to ever go anywhere much, they will serve.  There are reasons to keep the wheels on that we don't have to go into here.  Any tiny house you want to be truly portable should be built on a good car or equipment carrier trailer.

The frame studs, plates, and rafters, of the 16 foot tiny house are western red cedar mostly from one dead tree.  Most all of what I make on my sawmill here is from dead or fallen trees.  I am a tree worshiper by religion (can I say that here?).

If you want to see some of my dead tree dragging and sawing, you can check out this gallery album:

https://mycotopia.ne...the-alder-farm/

This was a newly dead 16 foot Douglas fir (the one I'm dragging out in that album) that I sawed into 2X10s for the coming 32'X36' wood shop floor.

I don't remember what thread I talked about being sick and losing all that weight.  But anyway, I have been on UV purified water and an herbal parasite cleanse.  Just wanted to let everyone know that I have gained five pounds or more after bottoming out at 120.  It looks like I might live after all.  Went into the VA and saw my doc today and am starting with an experienced naturopath tomorrow.

Update on my body's condition:   Started with treatments of a chiropractor/naturopath/acupuncturist today.  He examined and worked on me for three hours today.  This is after an hour interview last week.  The guy is thorough.  Tomorrow he is teaching a two hour Qi Gong class that I am going to try to go to, but its a long way and I might not make it.  He wants me doing the Qi Gong three times a day.  I just had a pretty complete blood and urine lab workup done with the "real" doctors (the ones that pick a pill for you and say, "next") before starting this.  I bet a good ND has a better idea what the numbers mean than the MDs.    So, I and this ND are setting out to get my yin and yang balanced out.

So far, I haven't been able to get any more than that four or five pounds back, and 125 pounds should be more like 150+.  I haven't a lot of strength right now.  Quite dizzy all the time.  The doc took away my coffee at that initial interview and things immediately exaggerated.  Obviously the coffee was masking some things, as well as having me burn up a candle that was getting pretty short.  Fried foods are the next thing to go.  I can see that getting well isn't for sissies.

Still not gaining weight and low on energy, but this isn't stopping me from buying another travel trailer frame.  This one is local and on CraigsList. I thought his asking price was too high at $400.  I agreed on $250.  I think I will make it my tiny deck and set it alongside the tiny house and call it a tiny deck to keep the assessor at bay.

I just mentioned to that neighbor whom we are building that smaller tiny house for that I was getting this other trailer frame for my deck.  She told me that yesterday, because she had heard that tiny houses are assessable as structures in WA state, that she had decided to stop in at the assessor's office and ask about this.  She was told that this is true, tiny homes are taxed at 1% of the assessed value.  So, if they decide it's worth $20,000, that's $200 a year increase on your tax.  She spoke directly to the assessor about this.  She complained that they had added our chicken house to her assessment, as they had also done to her friend's property as well.  He said, "I'm the Chicken House Nazi!"  Nice fucking guy.  So, if you have a travel trailer or an RV parked, it can be assessed as a structure?

I hate Washington state, well that's not true. I love the state and its people, but I do hate their government and bureaucracy.

They have a program here in AK that lets those older then 65 be exempt from the first 150K value for their property tax from their primary residence.

EDIT: Those numbers are for Anchorage, I just looked it up and those 65 and older get a 300K exemption here on the peninsula. And all residents (regardless of age) receive a 50K exemption, as long as it is your primary residence.

Here, seniors can get their assessed value frozen at some age I don't remember.  Because I live next door to my acreage, and not on it, that hasn't applied to me.   So, my assessment goes up every time.  And when some rich fucker comes into the county and pays three times the value of some piece of property, well, they raise everyone's assessment like they were land barons and tycoons.  My rent, in this rickety cabin, is to pay its portion of the taxes on a communally held 36 acres.  There are four home structures on this land, and I'm in the smallest. Its owner lives elsewhere.

We're going to campaign against the fucking Chicken House Nazi next election.  I'm thinking a nice yard sign:

"Deelect ____ _____,

the Chicken House Nazi"

I got that frame home today, driving right past the courthouse and cop shop.  I really did not want to pay $2 per mile for that three day trip permit.

The light bar has a fifty foot cable.  Really a handy tool.

Not gain yet.

Thinking now of a tool shack for the portable sawmill.  I need to get a band sharpening machine and won't do that until I can keep it from the weather.

I hear you there, you don't want to invest in expensive tools if you cant keep where they don't turn to crap.

Fort George has a keg of something that will put some lb's on you... But I am not sure if that course of action is the best.

Wishing you health, and happiness my friend.

That keg of Vortex has been sitting there taking up space in the fridge.  I have gone completely gluten free to repair my guts. The doc says it's my liver, kidneys, and small intestine keeping me from getting anything from my food.
