Skunks Woodlovers:

PS . CYANS
-I've combined all my indoor tubs into my large outdoor cooler. Saved a little mycelium to get some more indoor tubs growing. All are progressing nicely. About 2 weeks into these new totes.

PS. AZURESCENS
-My indoor tub of PS.Azurescens has had some slow but nice mycelium growth since I received her about 2 weeks ago. Today I noticed some white bugs crawling Around in this tub only. Any one have any ideas as to what they are. And what a safe method of handling these littler critters is.

Wow! Skunkbudda, you have quite an assortment of grows
Your Angel Trunpet Brugmansia is beautiful, could you share more about this plant?

Sorry to see some nasty bugs in you azures container, I wonder if it got a cold shock if it would kill them.
Of course it might be too much for the mycelium. Actually, I'm shouldn't be throwing any advice out,
Your cactus grow is awesome. Could you tell me what is what

Thanks for dropping in Lakegal7, visitors are always welcome and I'll do my best to answer questions... I do have a lot on the go and sometimes not everything is what it seems. I'll have to elaborate on this below as it may get confusing in a few minutes.

The Cacti question I'll answer you in a few days when I pull them all out and sort through them but I have quite a selection of different crosses ive aquired from World seed Supply, anf from trafed on this forum and other forms .... I'll get around to that this weekend. And give a full cacti update....

As for the infestation I was also told to cold shock them and repeat once more when the eggs hatch. So I'll do my best to irradiate them and post what happens in this thread. Hiofully I can save this culture. I've also got a outdoor tub of PS Azurescens. I always appreciate all feed back pertaining to any of my projects and welcome it greatly.. so never hesitate to bring anything up.

As for my Angel Trunpet plants i may have been a bit vage and could be confusing many peiole do I'm actually glad you commented on these and asked for some more information. I grow a few similar plants.
1)Brugmansia Suaveolens
2)Datara Innoxia
3)Jimsom Weed

Both Datura and Brugmansia are in the same Family Solanaceae....

Brugmansia grow into Woodey trees while Datura Innoxia is more of a Bush with stems and trunks that are almost always green and hairy. I've yet to see the woodie stems on my young Brugmansia.

Brugmansia flowers hang down towards the ground. While Datura innoxia flowers point up to the skies. Brugmansia are usually referred to as Angel Trumpets and Datura Innoxia are also wrongly referred to as angel trumpets (by myself as well) but are actually Devils Trumpets.

Seed pods of the Brugmansia produce green bean like pods that contain the seeds while Datura seed pods are round, Spikey/bumpy and will explode when ripe spilling the seeds everywhere.

I've found Brugmansia grow a lot slower than Datura possibly due in part to the woody nature of the stocks as the plant matures.

Both species of plants are extremely toxic In all parts....roots, leaves, Stems, flowers and seeds. The plant contains the chemicals Scopilamine, Atropine & Hyoscyamine in a variety of concentrations.

This plant/plant family requires some respect by all who grow it and for those that choose to experiment with it I urge them to do their research and research it well b4 attempting to use any part of this plant. It has been attributed to many deaths and i don't think most people who dabble with this plant understand the risks verses the benefits of this plant.

As to the experience of this plant/plants i have not... and I don't plan on experimenting with it or any other related plants. I grow them strictly for their pretty patio flowers, and take great care when tending them or touching them in any way as one can poison themselves unknowingly from what I've read and researched.

There are a few members on here that can shed a lot more light on this plant and the benefits and the cautions related to any of these plants.

The flowers I have been having as of recent are of the Datura Innoxia 'Devils Trunpet' as they are erect standing. Ive yet to see my Brugmansia 'Angel Trumpet' flower as they are still young. And have only recently begun to turn woody at the stems, and only slightly. Side by side they look identical when young. Similar to the way Psychotria plants look closely to each other.. Only subtitle signs they are not the same.

In my threads I'll probably refer to both of these plants as "Angel Trumpets" its just what I've grown to call them. We have had some issues with the son taking a liking to that kind of dark talk (Devils/Satin etc) and him being in a religious school doesn't need to hear us talking about Devil Trumpets. Usually in my post I'm showing both Brugmansia & Datura innoxia plants together jumbled under the header Angel Trumpets...

I do apologize for any confusing I may have caused anyone and I'm glad someone finally asked for more information so this could be cleared up. It's not that common of a plant to grow from what I've seen around on forums.

That's a nice grow , I love those peyotes. I see people here grow angel trumpets they are beautiful and large.

I think lakegal is right you could kill of the tiny bugs by putting them in a freezer.
If its frost free seal the tubs in a bag to avoid drying out. Might take a few times , depending
on if the eggs can survive the first freeze. Azures are very cold tolerant.

I'm going to have to figure out how to post the big pics so its easy to see with out clicking on the pic to enlarge.

Skunkbudda, thanks for taking the time to explain your angel trumpets fascinating..
The flower has such a cool shape and how they sway to one side.
I get it when it comes to kids and what they can pick up or how they can
Misconstrue words and anything called " devil " . It's just easier to not go there.
I love all flowers/plants and even some weeds
I am easily awed by the miriads of varieties that grow.
Great thread

I grew datura innoxia in high school probably ten years ago now?... it was a terrible idea for someone so reckless and arrogant...

I wrote up a little report on what I could remember a few years ago...

Dang.. Entho! Now that was some crazy kid stuff. It's one thing to try it
But to do it for a week.. Scary. We talk about ego death, that had
to be a twilight zone voyage
So are you planning to embibe this plant or are you growing it just to grow it?

Didn't see you for a while and I thougt you went off, I miss you in the ethnobotanical thread my friend.

Are those the san pedro seeds you sowed after we were talkinga bout cacti cultivation intensively a year ago?
I guess you grow them under lights right? What light, how much do you water?

Mine are 1-2cm tall and about the same age as yours :)

It's been a few months since this Skunk as been active around the forums. Figured I'd slowly ween myself back around these parts as I've missed the community greatly.

There has been some changes recently and I've decided to take a brake from Canna Cultivation till I can resubmit my paper work for my medical grow card I've let slip. Unfortunately this may take some time but with the security breach I had i felt the need to curb my grow and get and cultivate legally.

So for the time being I'll have to share other plants I'm cultivating.

All are being grow naturally either on our front to back patio.

Erythroxylum Novogranatense:
-Went from 3 specimines down to one that is actively growing nicely on our back deck.

Hawaiian Baby Woodrose - argyreia nervosa

-Been growing these one for under a year.

This one is grown indoors near an open patio window so receives full sun but is sheltered from our up and down weather. She's well over 6 feet and in the last two weeks has exploded with growth.

Skunks San Pedro's

Been growing these cuts for about 2 years. Last year I recut the two I had and ended up turning them into 4. One of the pups got Broken off this last winter and I re-rooted that cutting this late winter. Hopefully in the next few years I'll be able to have my 1st harvest.

So I have 5 San Pedro cuts growing.. these were aquired from a forum members here when I joined.

This is just a tease. I'd be uploading for Days if I posted individual pictures... I don't like sharing too many pictures of our front patio, so most of those don't get posted. But we have a lot of cacti growing around the place.

Great to see you back brother.

Your plants look great as always.

I personally recommend that you try to give your Peyote seedlings more sunlight to keep the elongated growth at a minimum.

Blessings
