This is a mycelial mass that I found under a bag of sawdust, super aggressive, I put it to agar immediately, I have no idea what it is:
Two days after being put to agar:

So here's basically just a more detailed version of my current agar medium making process. I welcome any suggestions, comments or questions.
The above is all of my ingredients that I'm playing with this particular round.
Included are 12g 'telephone' brand agar, a 7g packet of yeast , black food coloring, h2o, ~5g of my 'catattives' (powdered: eggshells, coir, oats, cornmeal, dirt, tiny bit of charcoal dust for good measure).
In that picture there's a quart jar that has the activated yeast, which I activated by following the temperature parameters on the packet, which were 110-130f, I stirred/shook until it was thoroughly consuming the 1/4tsp sucrose (table sugar) that I fed it, also on the packet. My goal was to get the yeast to produce maltose, which I hope coupled with my catattives, will be a terrific medium for my next set of transfers.
So basically after I got the yeast all riled up, I added water and everything together and shook vigorously, I then warmed it thoroughly on the stove, stirring a lot. I find this step seems to disperse whatever I've added as nutrition, and gets the agar thickened up, which helps keep all of my powders suspended, making my dishes uniformly nutritious. All together it was 700ml on the dot.
Here's the jars:
I use the GE lids so they remain sealed throughout the sterilization process, loose lids sink ships! Seriously, it's one less contamination vector having the lids tight. Not pictured, all the rest put in the PC.
Here's the food coloring, yes I bought it because it had a black cat, go ahead, judge me. lol
Anywho, thought I'd start updating this again. I'm excited.

Well I got nothing on my agar mentors, but I did about 20 transfers last night. These are all on the maltose/yeast concoction from my last agar post. My aa+ loves it.
Last night:
lion's mane
pioppino (black poplars)
PE (germination on agar)
RB 4 (redboyz)
* I had one fruit in the agar, I transferred the entire fruit, I figure it's aggressive, so it might be worth harnessing/isolating.

Well as I suspected, the myc continue to tear through the yeast/maltose agar. All the jars are completely colonized and crawling up the sides. The one pictured is the only one not 100%, but it works out purrfectly as I'm getting that gorgeous rhizo at the edge that I'll transfer again, in hopes of getting a true genetic isolate. More to come!

Yes, it could use more transfers.

You really need to get some plates so you can observe from the top.
If i read correctly this culture from the fruit that popped in your agar jar? If it fruits in a agar jar, uou best believe that it will fruit very prolific in a bulk substrate!
Did i mention get some plates?

It is difficult to see in the photo but i would agree there is some sectoring but it appears that the culture is growing out unitformly. Im not seeing a leading edge that is outpacing the rest so you may have a near isolate.

Oh yeah! That's right, it was the one that fruited in the jar! Alright, I'll get some plates. These jars will be good for my thermos!

Looking really good there Cat, keep up the good work! I can't wait to see some of those mushies if you are fruiting straight from your agar, well done!

Leaning back to a simpler agar recipe for spore germination, the myc love the yeast/maltose agar, but I want something more consistent for spore germination.
12g Agar
10g cornmeal
pinch of 'catattives' (future food, lobster compost, coir and an oat kernel this round)
Finally remembered to check the ph before the food coloring was added.. Came out a touch acidic (6-6.5) but I'm going to leave it as I have not been getting many contaminants on my agar.

Malabars germinating, took 5-6 days (not much to see, but here for documentation) Put spores to agar on 8/10:
Look at this RB!
And like @microbe77 reminded me, this is the same culture that fruited aggressively in the agar, so this one is a HUGE candidate for isolating completely.
Hell, it's doing most of the work for me.

nice cat!
What's a good vendor for pre poured? I'm going to ease myself into plates. I'll still make my own too, but...
