Lakegal7 that's what I mean cubes just crossing the same species. All cube's being related, the same species just different races of cubes.

well I am getting a microspoce soom and going to use some agat plates to put tiny amoutns of different cubes and try to see if they mate, on digital. I can then show if the do or don't  and at what percentage. Like to take any that do and grow them to see for fun.

I don't know about breeding mushrooms but like breeding anything select what you like and match phenotypes.

These two containers are from spore print
Golden teacher. The original print I received from fsre . Did one grow, took a few prints. This grow is from one of those prints. The light ones look like the Golden Teacher, but the dark ones..well I don't knowattachicon.gifimage.jpg
Can't figure out why the pix is posting upside down

you might need to rotate the picture before it is uploaded?  unless there is a different reason which i am unsure of.

I am getting a microscope to take pics with  and we will see what happens when 2 spore drops mix on a plate and if they intercross or not, even tiny ones that do cross can be cut out and grown.

hope we can tell the difference on spores so we can see sprouting to mating.

if you do not mind me asking, how do you plan to separate individual spores as i might try the same thing in the future?

I was just going to put a drop of two spore syringes on an agar plate.

I don't think most people could separate single spores. so I guess unless I can tell by looking at them ,I won't know if they mate unless grown out.

nice point, I didn't give it much thought when I posted.

heirloom, i did seem to have overlooked the words "two drops" from your post, my bad.  i would like to see what it would take to isolate a spore from two different spore prints and try to get them to become one mycelium factory.  i currently am not capable of trying such but will put it on my bucket list.
