So time for a mini update I guess.

Here's my spent slurry fruits again:

Here's the cake in the mini dub tub a dub dub!

The pic is quite small... Maybe they are aborting a bit.

The above original is bigger.

Let's take a look now! Well it's not PE, but it does look different than 'normal' cubes. What do y'all think, as I've never grown b+ before. Does it have any weird attributes that I missed? The gills look light, the aforementioned weird shapes,etc..

Missed this thread, your cakes look pretty awesome bro.

What do you do with alcohol? The containers?

I'm giving your experiment a try myself right now.

Hope it turns out as successful as yours has.... I've tucked it in a plant in our bathroom. Gets lots of moisture there. And some decent lighting. I keep a spray bottle handy for odd mistings... Re those all spent casings?

I've got a whole bunch more I'll be doing the same with.. if I have any success I'll let you know

it's just for fun, I had some slurry (tv style) that I dumped in, and once it took hold I was like 'oh shit, I should case it!'

There appear to be some leucistic traits in some of those B+ fruits.  Normally, B+ is a fairly garden variety cube.  I would try to print and/or clone some of the lightest colored ones.

Very nice work, Cat.

Thanks! I thought that they looked funny! Those fruits are all dried, but there's more coming! ab+? I'll try!

From my conversations with The Chosen One, it seems that the tendency is for fruits to conform.  He was telling me that even cloned albino fruits sometimes will produce normal-pigmented fruits.  So it's a game of chance and patience, but it's worth it if you can isolate some of those traits.

But if not us than who? They already have me sending prints all over the world. Maybe they will bless us in this regard. "We're optimistic, Ira and I"

You are going to want to get some clones on agar of one (or more) of those leucistic fruits, you know.  I wonder if they are stronger in alkaloids than the normally-pigmented ones?

The cake in the little tub is very, very nice as well.

Will you please dig up any nuggets from @the_chosen_one that might be pertinent? I'll look, but this is going down today, as the lighter fruits are halting growth, I think.

Or perhaps they grow slower like the aa+ or pe's?

Are these guys showing me albino-ish fruits on purpose?! Do they sense that I send albino prints worldwide?! Just a thought! :tinfoil:

Who is cultivating who!?

or is it 'whom'? ;)

I can't really think of anything off the top of my head.  His thread on creating the Falbino strain is one of the best, and his many logs on growing exotics are must-reads, especially in showing his mastery as a finesse grower.  Pretty much anything he has to say about genetics is worthwhile, but I can't really pinpoint anything.

It is possible they are a bit slower--this is an MS grow, right?  I wouldn't pick them until you are sure they are aborting.

You are lucky to see variations like that.  In all my years of growing, I have not come across random leucistic fruits from a fairly domesticated strain.

I would do several clone jars/plates and go forward from there.  I would also see if they drop spores.

You grew Falbino, and it was a fail? That is surprising. Or are you talking about the thread?

There are a ton of broken links unfortunately.

I did indeed grow falbino, it was a slow colonizer and gave me average fruits, so I let the genetics die. I want cultures that are 'eager' to please. ;)

Hmm, not my experience with Falbino.  I recall it putting out some monsters and not being slow.  I believe I have some prints left of it.  I got my prints from TCO, though, so that might be the difference.  The F+ side of the strain did seem to dominate things with what I was doing.  It was really good on cakes, as I recall.
