I've decided to sow one more big round of Pedros, this time also some Bridgesii, Peruviana and Scopulicola. No other cacti seed projects will start before next year as I'm too busy with other sowings and other projects. I use a mix of my own cacti substrate (zeolithe, limestone, lavasplit, pumice and dolomite) and I add 50% of good organic gardening soil rich with worm casings. No perlite, no woodchips, no peat and no loam. I do this only with my Trichocereus seedlings, all other cacti (and I'm growing mexicans only except for the Trichs) are sown in 100% mineral substrate. I don't cover the seeds, put them in a heated greenhouse where the temps are nearly 30°C at day and about 22°C at night. Humidity is constantly 70-99%.

And some weird, purple Peruvian Torch seedlings..no idea why they show this lovely colour. It has nothing to do with the light, the red colour that occurs when there is too much light for the water to handle is much darker and red, not purple....

An update on my last Trichocereus sowing...

18hours light per day, will put them outside in spring. No more humidty chamber since germinating is over.

The colour looks critical, but I am hard-cultivator so that's normal. They are all very healthie and I didn't lose much, or any seedlings, this year as so far. Keeping all fingers crossed still :).

I didn't do too much this year...I did one graft...a T. Bridgesii Monstruosa, worked great.

IMG_20171029_220456.jpg IMG_20171029_220438.jpg IMG_20171029_220432.jpg IMG_20171029_220414.jpg

I don't want to promise, but I will try to document it the next time I graft a cactus...that's what this thread is here for...not to show of, but to help everyone with cacti related problems or questions.

I bought and traded some amazing cacti this year...will update soon with some pictures in the next couple of days (I hope!).

An update on the seedlings that I sowed on page one of this thread...

I'm pretty sure the 'Eileen' is a clone of a soat after Bridgesii said to rich in actives. Popular in the USA.

Unfortunately I know nothing about the location of the cuttings I got, they are all from peru (pach, peru and bridgesii) and are very strong. What clone they are exactly is impossible to find out because the owner got the motherplants nearly 20 years ago just by their scientific name. He got 5 to 6 plants back then from each type and selected the strongest ones out. 30cm fresh of each plant is above moderate. But that's about it..
