I bought 18mg/ml nicotine base and it smells "salty" and i really don't know how to describe it, is this normal ? 

It is from HisVape made in Germany i think.

Nicotine base is supposed to be colorless and not have an odor. You might want to ask for a replacement. It can possibly look slightly yellow due to oxidation. That should be acceptable. If it smells off or like a dirty socks in a gym bag don't use it.

Thanks for the reply,  it looks colorless not yellow at all just smells like socks. Damn i bought 500ml. Do you know any good vendors to buy good clean nicotine base  in  Europe?

Dear Dealer,

we would like to inform you on an item that has probably already your

knowledge, but nevertheless we think it is too important to keep this

information away from you.

We noticed that there are a lot of Nicotinebase producing companies on

the market or resellers on the web / offline stores that do not have

enough knowledge of what they are dealing with.

Since last year August there are a lot of nicotine bases on the market

(and therefore also liquids) that are produced with either nicotine which is

a ®-(+)-Nicotine or nowadays (+)-Nicotine, or which is a nicotine

(produced for example by Merck in Germany) that is only for synthesis.

This Merck Nicotine does not have the correct purity to be sold to

humans. Merck did state this to us, but still they offer it for sale.

This nicotine is only for synthesis and it is forbidden to use it in products

which are sold to humans. The synthesis means that from this product

another product has to be made. Simply mixing it with something is not a

synthesis.

Since we were curious on how this nicotine will work out in bases we did

order some samples and made some bases from it. Also we had a lot of

customers which complaints that our nicotine bases were getting darker

over the time and that our bases have a smelly undertone, which you can

describe from “machine room” over to “nutty” depending on whether the

PG or VG level is higher. (For us this is a quality factor, and it is because

we only use natural nicotine from the world’s largest manufacturer of

pure nicotine).

The end result of the test with the samples of Merck was an absolute

smell-free base which did not colorize / oxydate over time.

We had many requests if we could not produce bases like this, but the

fact is that this nicotine is not pure enough to use. In fact it contains a lot

of contamination which is not stated by Merck and which differs from

charge to charge.

 

 

 

We do think that this is not only dangerous but also tending up to a crime

to use and sell bases for vaping in this way.

There are resellers on the market that have so less knowledge and where

the price rules everything that they even publish the datasheets of Merck

online in which is stated that the nicotine is only for synthesis.

What we would like to accomplish with these documents are 2 things:

1) We would like to inform our partners so that they are ready to state

their customers in the correct way.

2) We would like to state to you that we use ever since natural (S)-(-)-

Nicotine which has the pureness of >99,9% (pro analysis). Of every

charge we have the correct documentation/certificates, and every

charge will put in quarantine until we have tested them with our

laboratory equipment (defractometer).

After that the charge is set free to use in our production.

The nicotine that we use has the highest purity grade possible (that is one

thing which drives up the price), is USP (United States Pharmacopeia)

certified and delivers to every liquid an extra/advantage e.g. like taste.

We do not import nicotine from China, which is probably much cheaper,

but we do not trust the paperwork that comes from there. We are working

only with trustful companies, just to insure that what we produce has the

highest standards.

and highest possible pureness available on the market.

So... They basically told you that they sold you crap, "poison" and don't use it..."so sorry" but did not give you a refund?

As far as i understand they said it is normal because it is nicotine extracted from tobacco, not synthesized in laboratory from chemicals. It is strange that it smells 10x less bad then few days ago almost no smell, is it possible that it smelt so weird to me because i quit tobacco not long ago ? When i asked a friend he told me it doesn't smell bad at all.

Nicotine has a slight peppery taste in my expirence but smell or taste that's apparent .........yea that should not be.
