Making some updates to the first section people see when they sign up to be new members of our community, The Welcome Mat. We've been working hard to clear out the old junk that just doesn't need to be around any longer, we've worked on moving question based/help posts to their relevant forums, and we've gotten the thread count down to a reasonable amount of time.

Please be sure to visit this section often and greet our new members as they walk in the door. Pull up a (virtual) chair, have a conversation, and show them around a bit. Not everyone is as internet or tech savvy as you. ;)

Peace & Love

I second this old commentary.

After being here for several years, I find it ironic that when "googling" how to cultivate various types of mushroom - Mycotopia is right up there in the top results.

Another thing I really find great is that when you follow the links to Mycotopia - there is often a "tek" on the other end of the article. We post more comprehensive, pictorial, step-by-step processes than most anyone else on the web.

I've scrounged the shroomery before and their articles simply are not the same. On average, they posses fewer pics (if any at all), and the commentary can be largely anecdotal - containing no scientific measurements from which to reproduce the experiment. This is especially the case with "edible, gourmet, and novelty" species.

I have often followed search results for gourmet fungi to the shroomery only to find an article with a fruited substrate and a "look what I did". This comment is followed by the "wows" and "I heard this - I heard that) - but no follow-up and no cultivation method are present.

If I only want to look at pictures of fungi and read some commentary - I usually stick to "google images"

When I need to learn methods of cultivation - I almost always wind up here at Mycotopia.

So yeah..........

It's a trip when searching for fungal descriptions and cultivation methods - to see your own work referenced by others.

Is it possible to set up things so I can track posts that I have made in various threads? I am not so sure how things work here. Regards mjroom.
