Was at the depot today and saw some 8w cree soft whites for a buck each. So i bought one just to check it out.
Also saw these and thought they looked interesting.

http://www.gelightin...bright-stik.jsp

$10 for a 3 pack of 10w bulbs. So thats 30w @ 2850k (2280 lumens) for a ten spot. No special ballast, no extra heat sinks, and a nice compact size.

Gonna try to tare one down and see if i can hard wire them to lower the profile.

I saw something similar to those and 6500k too and thought to put them between plants, but sometimes my ideas get too complicated.

I was thinking these would be perfect to a compact stealth grow, mostly because of no extra adapter needed, and especially if i can re-wire them to cut down the profile

A Phillips flood LED 25 watts @ 295 ma. -- edit that's what it says but 295 ma x 120 V = 35.4 W.
The original package listed it as 50 watts. Threw it away a long time aha , never hardly used it.
got a small clone that needs to be grown in a mini grow..
It was hard to get the plastic off , I thought I broke it but when screwed in it worked

Yea man try 'em, yea i sawed the hell out of my floods you can't do it with old blades, I had to get new blades that worked a lot better.

I kind of like how this thread is going, I purchased a couple of these LED bulb style (below) for when I get the clones going, they'll be going right into bloom directly when they get roots.
I feel that the bulb/globe style A19 or A21's are better although the floods I purchased look pretty bright, I've found the (A19)(A21) LED's are 1625 lumens @15 watts, I think the ceramic bases keep the LED's cooler, and there seems to be a connection between temps and brightness.

I got the bulbs above based on the lumens I guess, so less fixtures to set up. How many? not sure yet, I know ultimately the 3070 COB's is the way to go but avalabilty and the initial expense, So I'm trying these, plus like the fact I can buy a little at a time, buget wise seems less

EDIT: FYI if any of you guys venture into looking for these types LED's omit 'dimmable' from your search their more expensive and their lumens per watt seems to be less

Thanks, maybe I'll try a 1 square foot scrog or do a sog, just to see how it works and hopefully prove that small
grows can be usefull for those who don't have the room or money to do a larger grow, some people I know smoke very little only when they have head aches. I am finding me a box to use, start today and have fun trying a mini grow.

I'd go futher than 8" lol . . These are showing some signs at 8" now their at 10" this is under two 90 watt floods. So I don't know what to tell ya, I'm guessing 18" otherwise you'll know.

I saw some really cool builds of cobs / heat syncs called game changers. I appreciate all the info. Any 1 have a clue about a comparison to plasma grow lights ? http://www.amazon.co...KN29Z6AES4VSTPG

Wow, nice discussion. I have built 3 lamps DIY with 8 Cree CXB-3590's on one beast. And two lamps that are 3 bridgelux vero 29's a piece.

How bout some pics.

I overbuilt mine but better to have it and not need it. Never had healthier plants than with my LED's. Altogether I got about 950 real watts of LED. They are bright AF. You can buy a dimmable driver like me and run anywhere from 10%-100% of max current. I been vegging under 1, 3 cob light at 50% power, 118 watts. Thats half the power of my T5 light. Glad people are trying the cobs.

Here is my current plants under 1 of my Vero rigs.

I have a lil tutorial on another forum where I show how I built the Vero 29 rig. Not sure if I can link it.

I'd definitely like to see that. Right now I'm at a stand still with these heatsinks but maybe this weekend

@ ROASTY

Nice ass log/tutorial. Step by step great pictures, love the 237.3 watter . .

I wish you'd post the link on this thread.

@ Heirloom Spores I have a better answer as far as distance from the globe lights we were talking about, judging by my 5000k 90W equv. Floodlights it's going for sure 18" to 2', my plants where heat stressing at 15" : (

If anyone is interested in Cree CXB versus Bridgelux Vero 29's then this is a must read.

I use both and think the crees are better, but you'll pay quite a bit more. The veros were less than half the cost cxb3590's. Either way you will not be disappointed with either. Bridgelux is supposed to release a gen. 7 vero29's that can get 155 lms/watt. My 6th gen run at 109 lms/watt, so its a nice jump. Not sure if you can get 7th gen yet for factory lead time.

Anyone wanting to DIY a cob led should check out growmau5 on youtube. He has great tutorials. He also has a kit at cutter.au that has pretty much most of what you need. Cutter was best deal i found.

They are Mephisto Autoflowers, left to right 2x Auto Blues, 2x SODK, 2x Sour Crack. Really have had smoothest run with these, idk if its the AF or the COB LEB or maybe I'm just improving my skills. Probably a combination of all three. Sorry for mentioning stuff that's already here. I gotta find time to read this thread.
