Been doing some checking into these COBS recently myself.  Looks like the gen7 Vero29's should be available around middle of this month from what I've read.  Datasheets show to have a 6500 available in the gen7.  Crees are just a bit too rich for my budget right now and I don't much trust the Chinese cheapos.

After some more looking and reading around, I've settled on going with the Citizen CLU048-1212  Lots of bang for the buck in those.

Thought I sum this up a little, I of course got my COB's built, six of them. Only some mothers in there so only using two COB's right now, this morning I pulled ten clones from one of those mothers.
Anyway here's some pic's I included some pictures from the outside of the cab.
Should be self explanatory

Edit: Damn all the pictures are all sideways, sorry.

Cobs have come a long way since the Chinese made  red and blue 1 watt panels I bought. I got a 3rd panel that uses 2 watt leds which would do a good scrog. I have used it for vegging so far.

I see that Cobs have really advanced over the years. I am really looking forward to advances and to see people grows using cobs.

"...Cobs have really advanced over the years...."

I concur the beauty too is if they are mounted as singles units you can space them that the plant leaf can receive light from more directions, why is that important? the photon receptors on the leafs are omnidirectional they do not receive light just from one direction, they get photons from area greater than 180 degrees.

In a single light source you are losing more than 50% of the plants potential of beneficial light or actually photons. So with these cobs the plants will get light from at least two different directions but mostly three or four directions when I finish. Here below is is an magnification of a leaf showing the difference between one light and two lights of lessor value from simalar direction but further away, the second image shows the leaf is utilizing more than 100% of the light using a second light, I heard this refereed as 'fringe lighting', (that area that does so well between two lights)

Its not just that there is more lumens being projected on the leaf (well actually it is) but meaning more usable lumens from lessor light source. one of the single receptors below are directed at different angles this is why one receptor right next to another is not showing that is receptive to the photons from the angle is directed, phew I hope I explained that right... probably not.

Here's a better image than the above pictures to better visual of understanding the importance of utilizing multi light directions.

Here's a better image than in the previous post to better visually discribe to understanding the importance of utilizing multi angles. Each of the disk shaped objects are Chloroplasts which are very directional but each facing different directions. So that's it on this subject, I wish I had my original resources on this, I know some of this is covered in Growers Edge magazine pretty 2009, when I get a chance I'll go through my 1000+ bookmarks and see if some old links can be found.

Figured, your pretty versed

It's aways stuck in my head, except t-5's (that are pretty decent) this is the first time I'm able to put it in practice.

Hash _   you overestimate my knowledge of lighting.I have learned from this thread an know I could not produce my own COB grow panels ,

I know a guy who uses T-5's, I think they are pretty good, I would be glad  to here you opinion on T-5's.

Maybe I want to be sold  on these.

What should I do with the Chinese 1watt panels ?  Should I post a pic ? The red and blue LED panels.

Sorry to ask so much , take your time

Yea in SOG or SCROG I like t-5's imo they grow a quality bud, I used them for years but they have a small footprint , check the fourms like 'flowering under t-5's' you'd see they do just fine flowering also . . but these COB's the price to build 'em (roughly 68.00 each) and watt for watt can't be beat the light they put out is incredible.

I that being said I'm going by my general knowledge, I have not finished a grow with them yet just starting one now, but I have little doubt I'll be quite pleased . .
