Do you have any idea how incredibly impossible this is to achieve in the lab?

You are crazy talented Cat, and I have to find Seeker2be.

He would be totally in awe of this project. I have his email here somewhere.

Thanks y'all! The "cordys" did most of the work though. I'm ready to improve my results! Plus cordyceps sinensis is up next!

^^^ Here's the side of that tub, I think that I'm wasting BE by using such a deep sub, I think going thinner will increase edible fruit numbers. I also think that I can use light even more to my advantage.

Not sure how I've missed this thread but is AWESOME! I've been really wanting to try growing cordyceps to add to the diet! So i haven't had a chance to read the meat and potatoes of the thread but did see one post from you @catattack that said something about maybe trying a thinner sub?? I think your deff right! Not sure if you are on IG or not but i follow this very awesome feed by a guy that calls himself mycosybiote or something and is very involved with the non magic side of mushrooms.... He's been growing cordyceps lately and the pics have been great! Here's just a few but you can deff tell in the 3rd pic how thin he keeps his sub, looks like 1in or less.... Not trying to disrupt you thread here just trying to help!

I've given mad props to mycosymbiotics in this thread, but I'm flying blind with these cultures.

Laz you're welcome to "disrupt" any of my threads, you know this!

New cordyceps tray, this time with an 1" of 50:50 with tons of surface area. 23"x16"  My hope is that I get better use out of the shallower substrate.

I can tell the cord is colonizing the dried mushrooms I put in with it.  Also put some charcoal on some to see what it does.  Haven't had time to read the thread it all looks great though.

I can't get mine to fruit.  Its been months.  I put some charcoal In there which is the white you see as its now colonized.  Went back and forth in different rooms to see if the temp dif would do anything.

Not sure where to go now.

This is the last of my batch.  I had some with holes in the lids and all sort of grow environments.  This is just some spawn that ended up in a gallon ziplock when I was in the middle of projects.  I keep an end open so air can flow.  It looks like it has been pretty hardy but simply won't fruit.  Its months old by now.

Amazing job!  I was going to order this culture from MycoSymbiotics.  Great to see someone else using that strain.  As I understand it he created that from a wild sample found in PA, and used multispore and worked on getting a good fruiting culture.

Any chance I could get a copy of that? ;)

It's been awhile for me.  Thinking about starting up another post soon, but not until things are more along.  The last post I made I just let die, was having tons of contamination problems working in a basement (even with a flowhood).  Now that I've moved things I've got my grain spawn down to a science, just gotta work on bulk technique and casing.

Again, great work!  I've heard brown rice is a great substrate for millitaris and has the advantage of being able to be dried and ground to a powder for medicinal benefits.
