I don't know about all this..... Here, if you have a dispensary or grow op, you are required to get rid of any scraps via fermentation......this eats any thc left in the material.......
So fermentation destroys thc......I'm very curious as to what the levels of actual active cannabinoids in that wine are.....
"Due to the lower fermentation temperatures, you still feel the therapeutic effects of marijuana without the high levels of THC"
Lower fermentation temps?....I wasn't aware that there were different temps for fermentation.....
"To start the process, about a pound of cured marijuana is wrapped in cheesecloth and added to a wine barrel, where it will ferment, then repose, for a year or more."
Again, I would very much like to see what the cannabinoid content/profile is of this wine......But to be quite honest, it sounds like snake oil to me.....
Something I would like to see done, is hops and MJ are very closely related....how bout a beer that substitutes cannabis in place of hops, it may not get you high, but I bet it tastes mighty fine....i imagine like Grolsch

I'm in Cali, and I won't pay those prices for any wine.
I'll vote for the beer tec. Who has time to wait for wine to get a decent finish?

"The creators are experimenting with two new weed types, Indica and Sativa, ..."
I'm calling bullshit. No sense in wasting cured nugs to do this - just use trim. With no heat, the actives never become active.
Trim plants
Puree shade leaves (which contain all of the anti-inflammatory goodies)
Enjoy the green smoothie with some Mad Dog 20/20 chasers. (I prefer "wine" that's never seen a grape.)
Save those cured nuggets for better purposes.
This reminds me of "THC" honey.
Or as fungi2bwith put it - Looks like (more) snake oil.

i would say the thc is probably not lost, think about it , it's gonna be weak cause ya putting it in a solution of water yeast and sugar, maybe few other additives to make for robust ferment. that being said would like to see the analysis of such brews .
years ago a buddy of mine made some beer substituting cannabis for hops. never consumed any of this brew.
