Just wanted to share gnomes hoooooogs tub #1

6qt shoebox garbage bag lined
2qt spawn grown on oats
3qt 70/30 coco coir / black kow
Substrate 12h 140-170° pasteuriztion
¼-½" 70/30 substrate casing layer.
7 weeks after spawning the gnome was busting out the chainsaw again.

When did you case it WT? At spawning or after 100%?

i cased once spawn was 100% and left to consolidate for about 3 days.

Do you think that they'd grow on PF cakes? I have extra cakes from mixing way too much for a friend that doesn't have any equipment.

hey buddy, i have a local friend who has tried to fruit them pf cake style and failed. i always thought they could fruit on pf cakes but now i'm not so sure.

I imagine that a PF cake would not retain moisture for long enough to support the extended time required to fruit Ps. Hoogshagenii.

Duly noted, but Uncle catsAndBats does cakes with a huge vermiculite reservoir at the base of the cake:

I bet you will be just fine as long as you have enough water and ideal microclimate available. The first few small containers I grew were PF cake material cased and top fruited. They weren't the best, but produced nonetheless.
