We should develop a Mycobuntu. With all the themes we love from here.

I've been using Linux and some *BSD for years, I love open source. I have no machines here running windows. My laptop is on Debian, my router (an old Sun Sparc machine that I also use as server to host some stuff) runs OpenBSD, my handheld PC runs Linux, etc. I have no need for windows or windows apps, and Linux is perfect for what I do.

Started out using RedHat years ago- not enough business apps at the time.

Went to Ubuntu/Superubuntu 8.10 about two weeks ago- I've learned enough to cope.

Never going back to windows.

May try 9.04...

I hate Macdonalds ... but i'm lovin Ubuntu 9.04 !

Very clean , well put together. To be honest I have a bit of a fetish for fresh OS installs and rebuilds. As much of a pain in the arse as it can be.

Everything is new and shiny. Nothings broken. No weird compatibility issues. Plus after a dozen times it becomes old hat (redhat ?) to apt-get all your plugins , codecs , programs , bells & whistles.

A dist-upgrade is right on ... but i've always had issues. Nothing beats a backup and fresh OS install.

Ubuntu !

Tonight at midnight we secretly meet in front of the penguin statue and plot the conversion of "the one called Hip" over to the Linux fold.

Pass it on ... :eusa_shhh

I use the newest version of Ubuntu on my secondary computer but never figured it out enough to switch completely. You guys should give the browser Opera a try. It's compatible with linux to the latest version. IMO it is WAY better than internet explorer, safari, and firefox in almost every way. Having wanted to work on browsers myself, I love this program. ..Glad to see they do a good job updating ubuntu.

Cool Pics Roc.
I have long thought of switching over to a linux OS and seeing this thread and other problems may be just the push I need. Just need more info about getting started.

This will get you started with Ubuntu Linux ->http://www.funnestra...buntu/intrepid/ and http://ubuntuguide.o...Ubuntu:Intrepid

I have been using Ubuntu since Breezy Badger (I still dual-boot with windows) and is a solid OS. If you need to install programs you can use the terminal or Synaptic. Since Linux is a community supported OS, if you run into any problems you can search or post at http://ubuntuforums.org very helpful stuff there.

Godd Luck SL

Shadow.

Welcome to the fold.

http://www.ubuntu.co...ubuntu/download

Go to that link and download Ubuntu. I sent you a PM with full instructions. If you need any help just post here.

We'll get you set right up in no time.

Don't despair if a few things don't work right out of the box. A few clicks and you will be set right up with all the restricted software.

Cheers
