A new bluing species of Panaeolus (Copelandia) , Panaeolus axfordii is described from Yunnan Province in China.

 

Two photos a and b and then 3 is the SEM of the species and 4 is of the spores of Panaolus axfordii.

NOw I do not know why there is bluing glowing around the caps as they do not do that on my  screen at home.

Very cool! Yunan is known for their great mushroom cuisine too

LAst report I had from Yunnan was about two separate cases of mushroom poisoning by accidental consumptionof Psilocybe samuiensis by foragers hunting for food.  Two individuals in both cases were affected .  Specimens were collected and wnen put under the scope turned out to be P. samuiensis.  The fourth location now for this species, Thialand, Burma east coast, Cambodia, and not southern China, two humdred km north of Changerai of the China/Thai border.
