As you can see in the pics, I've got pesa, golden teachers and pf amazons. Any tips, trick or anecdotes are welcome.

I just started some PESA as well and they are showing. Since its been awhile you could take the easy path and birth the cakes maybe with a verm casing (dunk and roll).
You could also do some cakes and experiment with some of the others. I like to mix straw / poo with colonized grains or cakes. Whatever tickles your fancy.
I noticed your lids are tinfoil with holes. This can work for sure and I think I see a vermiculite top barrier which helps. You may want to explore threads around here with lid setups. Many use tyvek or polyfil. Tinfoil lids can tear very easily.
Here's a lid link: http://mycotopia.net...s-lids-filters/
Hope all goes well for you. Keep us posted.
cheers

eastwood ... thank you and I'm posting a pic of my fruiting chamber. will have perlite and water in the bottom. As you can see, I painted a little over half way up for light.
hyphaenation ... thanks! I believe I'm going to take the easy path with my first run and just do the cakes. I'll experiment after I get a little more confident. thank you for the lid link!
Hippie3 ... thanks! I appreciate it!
mycobri ... they did get off to a fast start. :hippie: When I made my syringes I sort of had a bit of spore overload.
Here's a look after one week ... almost there!

a wise decision. always better to start simple and work your way up. nice work... looks like you've hardly missed a stride.

oibchip ... nope, not long now! The bottom of the jars is almost finished colonizing. I can't wait to get on to the next step! Patience is not one of my virtues. lol :eusa_shhh
cheshire ... I have some in LC but I was afraid they'd contam'd in our recent move. They spent a few months in storage but temps were in the 90's. I've included a couple of pics to see if you guys think it's contam'd or not. The one with Golden Teacher myc in it still has big, white puffy clouds, but that one dark spot has been in it for a long time now. It doesn't really seem to be spreading. I've kept my eye on it for a few months now. :mistrust:
the chosen one ... I try to use the 'kiss' method as often as I can. lol I don't need any help in screwing things up, especially when I try to get fancy and do something I'm not knowledgable enough to try yet. :eusa_pray
I must say I've really enjoyed my reading on this site. All the highlighted words/links in the posts are a super help for newbies like me. Thank you to the Powers That Be.

This site is like a free (to us) mycology university...
I completely agree. Myco U  :headbang:
I wanted to ask a question. Does it matter what you place your cakes on for fruiting? What are the preferred items used for this? Can anything be used as long as it's sterile?

If this grow goes well, I really want to tackle some grain teks and casings next. I've only tried once and it was a miserable failure... contam city. :eusa_booh Maybe I'll have more luck this time around. I am a bit more dedicated this time.
