Alright Everyone, Cooler weather will be here Soon and that means EDIBLE Blocks. I ordered up some LC syringes I haven't played with before, starting with Portobello's. Not a hard mushroom to get, but I don't want store bought when I can grow my own. Sounds like these like Manure/Straw which I have experience in so shouldn't be an issue. Always exciting going for it with something you haven't Grown.
Next is Bears Head or Hericium Americanum, I've grown Coralloides and Erinaceous so shouldn't be an issue with this new variation.
I also grabbed a Beech Mushroom syringe, looks interesting and different, figured WHY not.
I don't know much about Cordy's at this point, I did a little bit of research and they seem to like a different substrate. I need to do more digging on this one.
I picked up a different variation of Shiitake(S75), the one I current have(3782) on AGAR is pretty slow to Colonize, almost 3 Months(to turn completely brown). Great Fruiter the
3782 though, over 2lbs per 5ish pound block First flush. I see why most don't go for a 2nd flush, but you can and I have... they won't be as Meaty... sort of thinner fruits So to speak.
Definitely worth a second flush for a Home Grower, the Pros are ONE and DONE. Don't attempt a 3rd, you will start to see green spots here and there. Outside time or Discard.
So those are the new ones I'm looking forward to, but I'm going to get the Shiitakes and Maitakes going First since they sit on a shelf for a long time to Colonize and Brown Up. I'll be doing a batch of Oats this Weekend and get the two Shiitake variations going and the Maitake. I need to do some Agar work this weekend as well, the FUN(gi) NEVER Stops.
