Thank you for dropping by RockyFungus... I like keeping an eye on your projects and I'm excited to play with Wine Caps Outside this Spring. I grew some BIG Kings outside on blocks that had 3 flushes already last season and what a treat, Not sure why I didn't try LM outside, OH yeah now I remember, I had Coralloides and Erinaceus coming out of my ears(Still have plenty dehydrated). I will this season just for the sake of Recycled Blocks are fun experiments and Thrilling.

Alright folks... I checked on the Bags this morning, everything looks great, the new bags(Shiitake S75) are showing just a little bit of recovery now and should start kicking in good soon. The other 8 bags are killing it, it looks like one of the other Shiitake Blocks tried to fruit or is popcorning really early, I'm excited for a faster Shiitake culture. The Bears Head Blocks are just about colonized, just a little more on the bottom, pretty typical for blocks. The TT blocks are just about the same, colonized just a day or two for the bottoms to fill in. Hopefully I'm adding a few blocks to the Chamber this weekend.
I transferred all my Agar plates yesterday, been meaning to get that done, the plates looked great, but you never know with Contams, they HIDE well. I did two Shiitake plates, Piopinno, Chestnut, King Oyster, LM erinaceus, and Turkey Tail(Lost the Reishi, dried out and looked to be Contaminated, I have more LC so no Loss). Most of the plates were around 8-10 months old so it was time for a swap.
I also picked up a Pink Oyster to play with, and another LM that is Heat Tolerant so I can grow them whatever time of year, and I'd like to see some Outdoor fruits going Down. Time will tell, Oh I picked up a Wine Cap to get started later this year for a Spring Bed. I'm finally making that happen, one of these days I'll try to get a Morel Patch going. Always planning for Future Fun(gi).

Any idea about a warm weather shiitake's numbering? I also have a cloned shiitake from a friends "log" he bought already pinning. His log was around X-mas so assumed a colder-strain.

It is always a battle to provide what our target species need while giving it the advantage over the others, enough that they fully dominate a substrate....and sooner or later all things succumb.....
I'm going to continue making logs and blocks then burying them in soil...
Keep at it Mush those bags look good, I love blocks of mycelium......

Alrightie folks, I've had these 4 blocks just aching to fruit, they've been colonized for awhile, but I finally got em' in the tent. I went with slices on the 2 TT blocks and the Bears Head Americanum. I've ran TT and LM open blocks, it works, but it's a PITA to harvest and much easier slicing off the side of the block for a clean cut/fruit. On the LM blocks, I usually slice on the top, but I did a couple of slits on the topside front of the block just because I haven't. I want the fruit to hang in the front, should look cool when finished. The original 2 Shiitake and Maitake blocks have been colonized and Shiitakes are popcorning SO early, I'm excited, and the Maitake is fully consolidated and just doing it's thing.
The new Portobellos are ripping through seeds, just about colonized on Rye and Oats in 6 days. The Reishi is shredding grains as well, same with the Pink Oyster... right behind the Ports. The new Beech Mushroom is fairly fast, I would say Average speed, the new Maitake jars are doing well, FAST on Rye and I think prefers Rye, showed growth in half a day, Oats, about a day or a little more. I just mixed up the COTW spawn and the LM erinaceous, OH and the Black Poplar is on the Slow to Average side of colonizing, no worries and NO hurry. I'll do a Black Poplar on Rye, I bet it will be like the Maitake and Faster. All the Best to everyone and their projects.

@RockFungus... Definitely will be using Horse Manure, I might throw straw in there too or just run it with a little Coco and Verm for fluff and water retention. I blew it on the last round, I knew I smelled something off, but being green to growing Ports, and mainly wood lover block experience(my fav edibles)... IT be what it Was... and I scrapped it. Good thing it's quick to get back in the game with these, VERY fast on Oats or Rye... not picky to either or.

A few Grain jar pictures, I don't take them too often... but I do appreciate the beauty of Clean mycelium quarts.
Rye and Oats, the Oats jar is WAY more full
and didn't matter much.
Reishi... Wispy gorgeous polypore mycelium
The newest member of the Fam... Pink
Oyster... All jars were shaken on Day 4
which was 2 days ago (All jars Inoculated on the
16th).

Hey all, just a quick update, I threw in the Bears Head and TT blocks a few days ago, 4 blocks in total. The Portobello spawn has been ready for a few days, 6-7 days and the Pink Oyster is finished at 8 days, same with Reishi, it's finished at 7. I'll sterilize some blocks sometime this week and keep the momentum going. I shot up the last of an old LM syringe to see if it's still good, I see a small green spot on a single seed, probably toast. Owell, I guess I have my answer if the LC is still viable.I just picked up a high heat tolerant LM so it's no problem and I have my older LM on Agar anyway. Probably should of put a single drop on Agar instead of seeds... Owell, either way it's a few seeds and a little bit of time. The price we pay to Play.

Alright guys, the fruiting has Begun, I noticed a little something yesterday, and today is Day 5 for the Bears Head Americanum and just starting to kick into gear. Nothing on the Turkey Tail yet.
I just shut off the Cooker for 4 bags for 2 Reishi and 2 Pink Oyster Blocks that will be inoculated tomorrow morning. I should be able to get some Horse Manure really soon to get the Ports going.
Beech is close so is the COTW, the Black Poplar is a bit slow, but looks fine and taking over quickly now. A couple Maitake jars are real close on Rye and Oats. Same with Pink Oyster on Oats, slower,
but close to double the spawn.
I just noticed my newer Shiitake blocks are already popcorning, really enjoying how fast they are. The 2 original Shiitake blocks, one is starting to Brown up already in a few spots and not even a Month in being spawned on the 29th of Sept.
Maitake blocks colonized just doing their thing in a cabinet. A few pictures...
Early Stages of Bears Head
Turkey Tail... Not showing anything yet, but
it's early and only 5 days in. Might see something around
day 10-12 from previous results, definitely by 2 weeks.

Never seen hericium brown, looking good though. I always get pinkish fruits at that size.

They do have a beige sort of tan tint to them, it may be the lighting throwing it off, they are white mainly. I have seen them a little hue of pink to(of course slighty yellow at times)... All Hail Hericium.

Alright ya'll... got the 2 Reishi and Pink Oyster Blocks mixed up this morning. The Reishi will take awhile to grow antlers, then I will fruit them. No hurry's... and I'm early this year with a plan. The Pink Oysters I'm really excited for... beautiful looking and I'm sure... TASTY! Have a good Day Topiates!
I should be able to spawn the Ports today when I go get some manure... Nice sunny day and time to put in Work.

The Bears Head are starting to grow now, it's a closeup shot so it looks bigger than it is, but Nice size from just the other day. I've grown these quite a few times and I still just enjoy them SO much. KINGS and LM for life, I need to check my KO plate, I noticed my old Shiitake Agar plate is clean from the transfer. I need to just to do a quart jar of LC of KO and be done with it... and just have it whenever I want. I did get some lids and supplies to make LC lids. Just making sure it's clean before I get into King blocks and planning some that take a long time to just sit in a cabinet. I have a few more Maitake jars to spawn soon, the new Beech Mushroom, the Black Poplar is finally looking like it's rollin'. The COTW spawn is finished and I'm just letting it fully consolidate and I'll get some blocks going this weekend or possibly a round tonight. Spawn is backing up on me... LETS get UR done. I'll get some pics of some of the different spawn jars, the COTW is super wispy in the beginning, then it looks sort of flaky, very different and turns pinkish orange in a bag. Some pics of the Bears Head, going to be delicious. Happy Friday All.
3 tiny slices at the top of the Block
Nothing just yet on the TT, fast colonizer...
Long Fruiting cycle.

I've tried them in a bag(COTW), stubborn me thinking I can get them to fruit indoors... NOT so much. I'll be getting a few logs this time and sterilize them in a unicorn bag and go from there. Out of my comfort zone with logs, but I'm not scared.
